Wishing you a Beautiful Day Greeting Card (Crazy Card Chics January 2022)

Crazy Card Chics (formerly Rose Hill Stamp Camp) is back in action with monthly card kits to go.  We haven't given up on the hope of going back to live stamp camps at some point, but we haven't yet found a suitable new location . . . and to be honest, with the current upsurge in COVID (Omicron) we're not all quite ready to go back to live stamping events.

So this is my card for January's card kits to go.

Front & inside
Click on image for closer look.

This card is slightly larger than the usual A2 card -- it's from a card making kit featured in Stampin' Up!'s 2021 January-June Mini Catalog (now retired), and the size is 6-1/4" x 4-1/4", with coordinating envelopes that measure 6-1/2" x 4-1/2".  No additional postage is required to mail this size.

Card Base

Accessories and Tools

*** Visit Crazy Card Chics (formerly Rose Hill Stamp Camp) | Facebook for additional information re stamps and ink.  Not yet a member of this Facebook Group?  Just ask to join and we'll happily welcome you into our group!

Assembly

Front
1. Center and adhere Mossy Meadow card stock to card front.
2. Adhere Bumblebee patterned paper over card stock.
3. Stamp Splattered Background on 4-3/4” x 2-3/4” white card stock with Bumblebee ink; stamp sentiment with black ink.  Adhere over patterned paper.
4. Use Brilliant Wings dies to cut two small and two large butterflies from Beauty of the Earth DSP.  Apply a thin line of liquid glue or glue dots to centers of the two small butterflies and one of the large butterflies, and adhere to card front as shown.

Inside
5. Adhere Bumblebee card stock to inside of card.
6. Adhere plain white card stock over Bumblebee.
7. Apply a thin line of liquid glue or glue dots to center of remaining large butterfly and adhere to inside.

That's it!  The most time-consuming part of this card was cutting 40 sets of butterflies for the card kits and finished cards.  Cutting the rest of the pieces parts and actually assembling the card took almost no time at all!

NOTE:  Since the card bases and envelopes used to make this card are no longer available, the card could easily be adapted to a regular A2-sized card by simply changing a few measurements and then covering the card front with designer series paper.

Alternatively, Stampin' Up! has the same size cards featuring a new design in the current Annual Catalog (Hand-Penned Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, item #155501, $10).  And in the new 2022 January-June Mini Catalog, Stampin' Up! is featuring a new cards & envelopes pack which includes ten cards of this size, plus ten 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" cards (see Heart & Home Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, item #157958, $10).

I hope you enjoy this design!

Elegant Gift Card Holder (Stamp Camp North)

Today's card is actually a gift card holder that we made at my table at Stamp Camp North this past Saturday.  It's easy-peasy and creates a very nice presentation for a gift card.

Click on image for closer look

I really like this card because it's quick and easy to make, and all you need to do is add a gift card for a perfect gift!  The paper is so elegant and the sentiment so simple that it can be used for any occasion (i.e., birthday, graduation, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, or even wedding).

Many thanks to Mary Knabe for sharing this design.  Visit Daffodil Afternoon Gift Card Holder & More - Stampin' Peace (stampinpeace.com) to see Mary's design, along with a video showing how it was assembled.

A few alternate versions showing different placement of "celebrate"

Materials:
  • Basic Black card stock: 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" (base)
  • Basic Gray card stock: 5-1/4" x 4", embossed with Hammered Metal embossing folder (first layer)
  • Basic Black card stock: 4-1/4" x 3-1/4" (second layer)
  • Simply Elegant 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper ("DSP"): 12" x 3", scored at 4" from each end)
  • Silver Foil card stock: about 4" x 1-1/2" ("celebrate")
  • Basic White card stock: 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" (inside)
  • Label Me Lovely Punch (inside, notch in gift card pocket)
  • Celebrate You Dies (Stampin' Up! retired)
  • Hammered Metal Embossing Folder
  • Adhesives: Liquid Glue, Tape Runner
Assembly:
  1. Emboss and adhere Basic Gray card stock to black card base.
  2. Center and adhere 4-1/4" x 3-1/4" Black card stock to Basic Gray card stock.
  3. Fold DSP away from score lines, folding one flap over the other.  Use a bone folder to smooth and even out edges.
  4. Use punch to cut a notch in the top center of the first panel.
  5. Run a thin line of liquid glue along inside left and bottom edge of first panel; fold down over center panel to create gift card pocket.
  6. Adhere 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" White card stock to inside of remaining panel.  Now you have a card with a gift card pocket on the left and a place to write a note on the right.
  7. Close card and apply adhesive to back of card; adhere to 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" Black card stock.
  8. Use die to cut "celebrate" from Silver Foil; adhere to front with liquid glue.

Useful Stampin' Up! Tools Used Differently!

Hi, folks!  This year I'm starting a new thing on my blog.  I have been a member of an online group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators for several years now.  It's a great group from which I get lots of inspiration and ideas for classes and stamp camps, as well as Stampin' Up! product "how-tos."  Each month members are invited to write articles for a subgroup, the Newsletter Co-op.  Writing articles for the Co-op allows the authors to share articles written by other Co-op members.  These articles often contain great "Quick-Tips" and information about how to use Stampin' Up! products, instructions for new techniques, or new project designs, and many of them include detailed instructions.  So . . . this is the first in a series of articles I plan to intersperse among my regular posts.  I hope you enjoy them!

USEFUL TOOLS USED DIFFERENTLY!

So, what is a useful tool?  In the Stampin’ Up! world we have many tools to help us with our stamping projects:  paper snips, paper cutter, Stamparatus, and small tools such as the bone folder, Take Your Pick tool, grid paper, etc.  Today I want to talk about ways that I use the bone folder and Take Your Pick tool for non-stamping purposes.

Bone Folder.  I have a part time job in the office of a church in Cincinnati.  Once a week I send out a SNAIL MAIL newsletter to church members who do not have internet or smart phones.  This requires folding, stuffing envelopes and mailing.  Plus, I also print and fold bulletins for Sunday worship.  One day, as I was folding a bunch of things to mail and distribute, I had a sudden flash:  I could bring in a bone folder and make folding easier and crisper!  Well, hallelujah!  There is nothing prettier than a neatly folded letter or bulletin that lays flat when you open it!  I thought I was brilliant to think of that idea.  So now I use a bone folder not only for folding, but also as a letter opener when my office letter opener goes wandering. True, it’s not quite as neat in opening mail, but it certainly gets the job done quickly.

Take Your Pick Tool.  After my bone folder made an appearance in my office, I decided that the Take Your Pick Tool might also come in handy, and it has!  I have used the flat blade for opening the prongs of staples to remove them from paper, then flip over the paper and use the flat blade under the staple to pull out—very handy if someone has rifled your desk and your staple puller has disappeared.  I have also used the flat blade to turn small screws when I need to replace batteries in a mouse or my computer.  The putty end is great for picking up small items off the floor like small bits of paper, stray staples, even small food items when you’re messy.  The paper piercer has come in handy to poke a hole in a stack of paper for a metal brad to hold papers together as well as poking a hole in a cork bulletin board when a tack pin won’t make a hole.  (I won’t mention the time I accidentally poked a small hole in my desk!)  And the scoring tool...what can I say? If a thicker piece of paper or envelope won’t fold, just score it with a ruler and the scoring tool option and fold away!  What about the die brush tool, you ask?  Well, it gets lint off your clothes very quickly, just make sure to use a light touch, so you don’t snag anything.

I hope these little hints have shown you how versatile these tools can be and not just for stamping projects!

Enjoy!
