New Year Wishes (Stamp Camp North, 12/10/2022)

I've made so many Christmas cards for my many classes over the past several weeks that I needed to get away from it and make a New Year's card for Stamp Camp North this month.  Now that my classes have ended for the year, I'm hoping to find some time to get online and share some of the cards that we've been making in my classes.

Click on image for closer look.

This fold is called an "offset gatefold" and is quite easy to make.

Paper:
* Card base -- Black card stock:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 3" and 7-1/4"
* Bottom layer for front panels -- Gold foil: 5-1/4" x 2-3/4" for left panel; 5-1/4" x 1" for right panel
* Top layer for left panel -- Festive Foils Specialty Paper: 5-1/8" x 2-5/8"
* Top layer for right panel -- Lights Aglow 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper: 5-1/8" x 7/8" (unfortunately, this item is no longer available as of 12/14/2022)
* Circle -- Black card stock:  about 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" (from Painted Labels die set)
* Sentiment -- Pearlescent Specialty Paper:  about about 2" x 2" (1-3/4" Circle Punch)**
* Bow -- Gold foil:  about 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" (from Mistletoe die set)

Click on image for closer look.

* Bottom layer on inside of card -- So Saffron card stock: 5-1/4" x 4"
* Top layer -- White card stock: 5" x 3-3/4"

Other Stuff:
* Brightest Glow stamp set (happy new year)
* Joyful Flurry stamp set (inside sentiment and snowflakes)
* Black ink pad
* Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush
* Clear embossing powder
* Heat Tool
* Stampin' Dimensionals

Assembly:
This card was way too easy to put together!  The card stock was folded away from both of the score lines to create the card base.  For the front, the layers of paper were adhered to the corresponding panels.  The circle for the center piece was painted around the outside edges with Wink of Stella before adhering the sentiment, which was stamped on Pearlescent paper and then heat embossed before punching out.

There are two bows in the Mistletoe die set -- one matches the stamp in the Mistletoe Magic stamp set; the other one was used for this card.  This was cut from gold foil and glued to the circle under the sentiment.

Once assembled, the black circle was attached to the left panel with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The inside is even easier than the front!  It's just as you see in the photo -- the sentiment and snowflakes were stamped on white card stock, which was adhered to the So Saffron card stock and then adhered to the center panel on the inside of the card.

I hope you enjoy this card . . . and are looking forward to a wonderful new year!!!

** NOTE:  The 1-3/4" Circle Punch is no longer carried by Stampin' Up!, but if you don't have it in your stash, the circle also could be cut with the Layering Circles dies.

Happy Stamping!!!

Joyful Wishes Greeting Card (11/5/2022 Sassy Stampers Stamp Camp)

It's beginning to feel a lot like winter in the Denver area!  Snow this past week and continuing cold temperatures always put me in the mood to stay in where it's warm and make winter-themed cards.  So this is the card we made at my table at Sassy Stampers Stamp Camp yesterday.  (I love the rich winter colors, but sometimes I like to get away from them and make something more whimsical.)

Happy Halloween!!! Diamond Z-Fold Card

It's been far too long since I posted a new project!  I didn't realize how long it had been until last week when I was looking for something on the site.  So today I'm bringing you this really cute Halloween card!!!

Click on image for closer look.

This is a fun-fold card I've been wanting to make for a long time, and when I decided to make a Halloween card using the Witch Hat Builder Punch from the Stampin' Up! July-December 2022 mini catalog, I immediately thought of the Diamond Z-Fold layout!

Materials

Card Base:
    * Basic White Thick card stock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored vertically at 2-1/8" and 4-1/4"

    * Basic Black card stock: 5-1/4" x 4"
    * Basic White card stock: 5" x 3-3/4"
    * Granny Apple Green card stock: 5" x 2-1/8", textured with Stripes 3D Embossing Folder
    * Basic Black card sstock: 5" x 1-1/2", scored at 1-1/4", 2-1/2", 3-3/4" for pop-up element

Inside Diamond Piece:
    * Basic Black card stock: 2-1/8" x 2-1/8"
    * Basic White card stock: 2" x 2"
    * Basic Black card stock for witch's hat
    * Pumpkin Pie card stock for hat band
    * Daffodil Delight card stock for stars
    * Basic White card stock: scrap for witch's boots (fussy-cut)

Front Panel:
    * Basic Black card stock: 5-1/4" x 1-7/8"
    * Black & White Design Designer Series Paper: 5" x 1-5/8"

Front Diamond (2 Pieces):
    * Basic Black card stock: 1-7/8" x 1-7/8"
    * Basic White card stock: 1-3/4" x 1-3/4"
    * Pumpkin Pie card stock for witch's hats
    * Basic Black card stock for hat bands
    * Daffodil Delight for stars

Boo! Banner:
    * Basic Black card stock: 7/8" x 3", short end trimmed with Banners Pick a Punch
    * Basic White card stock: 3/4" x 3" short end trimmed with Banners Pick a Punch
    * "Boo!" stamp from my stash

Additional Items:
* Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folder (#157980)
* Bewitching Stamp Set (#159844)
* Witch Hat Builder Punch (#159856)
    SAVE 10% by purchasing as a bundle: Bewitching Bundle (Stamp Set and Punch - #159857)
* Black Ink Pad
* Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Write Markers for stockings and buckle
* Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush was used to add shimmer to hat bands, stars, and buckles on boots.

A brief pictorial tutorial appears below.  Check back soon for a video tutorial.

Step 1

Step 1:  Adhere all the base layering pieces -- black card stock and DSP on left panel; black card stock, white card stock, and embossed Granny Apple Green card stock on inside panel.

Step 2

Step 2: Adhere small white squares to small black squares; add Pumpkin Pie witch's hats and black hat bands.  Adhere to left panel as shown.  IMPORTANT NOTE:  To avoid gluing your card shut, place adhesive on the back of only the left side of each diamond.

Step 3

Step 3:  Fold away from all score lines on 5" x 1-1/2" black card stock; place adhesive or ScorTape (shown) on two end panels.  Fold in half and adhere one end against center fold on inside of card.  Then remove backing from ScorTape or add adhesive on opposite end (shown from top above), and close card over the adhesive.  This will create the pop-up box to which you can now attach black witch's hat.

Step 4

Step 4:  Adhere larger white square to large black square and adhere to the box created in Step 3 as shown.  Note that the left corner of the diamond shape is right against the edge of the box, butting up against the center panel.  Now you can adhere the black witch's hat and orange band.  Stamp the boots image on a scrap of white card stock and fussy cut, color the socks and buckles if desired, and adhere them under the brim of the hat.  NOTE that the lef boot should be even with the edge of the diamond; if it's further to the left, it will fold up with the card when it's closed.

You're almost finished!  Stamp a small greeting ("Boo!" on my sample) to the white banner and adhere it to the black banner.  If you close the card, you will be able to see where to place the banner under the bottom diamond on the front panel so it covers up the right boot.  (See sample above.)

The final (optional) step is to apply Wink of Stella Glitter to each of the hat bands, the stars, and the boot buckles.  This really brings the card to life!

This is what the card will look like when it's opened.

I hope you enjoy this fun card!

Instructions for assembly appear below, or you can watch the video tutorial (see link below).

1. Fold Old Olive card stock at scoreline to create card base.
2. Adhere white “Summertime” card stock to card front.  (NOTE:  This piece was created on my computer with Word.  I used the “Curlz MT” font and just played with it until I got the size and position I wanted.)
3. Adhere patterned paper over white card stock.  (IMPORTANT NOTE:  Paper is 4” wide and 3-3/4” tall; if it’s attached the wrong direction it will not fit between “Summertime” and “Fun time!”)
4. Use embossing folder to add texture to 3-1/4” x 3” white card stock; center and adhere over patterned paper.
5. Adhere one watermelon slice to embossed card stock as shown; use foam tape or hexagons to attach second watermelon slice over first.  (NOTE:  The watermelon slices were created by scanning a larger image into my computer, reducing the size and then printing and cutting them out of white card stock.)
6. Punch butterflies from patterned paper.  Use glue dots or liquid glue to adhere centers of butterflies as shown; attach glitter stickers (larger for large butterfly; smaller for small butterfly) in a row down the centers.

Inside - Click on image for closer look.

7. Adhere blank white card stock to inside.
8. Adhere small watermelon slices in corner.

Bouquet of Thanks card (Stamp Camp North 05/14/2022)

Saturday was a busy day at Stamp Camp North!  We had both a stamp camp and a crafter's garage sale!  Since I was cashiering for the sale and couldn't be at my card making table to help the stampers, I wanted to create an easy-to-complete card.  This is what I came up with.

Click on photo for closer look.

Materials

Stamp Set
* Bouquet of Thanks

Paper
* Card base:  Black card stock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
* First layer:  Blushing Bride card stock: 5-1/4" x 4"
* Second layer: Black card stock: 5" x 3-3/4"
* Third layer: Texture Chic 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper ("DSP"): 4-3/4" x 3-1/2"
* Mat for flowers:  Black card stock: 4-1/4" x 3-1/4"
* Flowers: White card stock: 4" x 3"

Ink
* Black Ink

Inside (see photo below)
* Blushing Bride card stock:  5-1/4" x 4"
* White card stock: 5" x 3-3/4"
* Coordinating DSP: 3-3/4" x 1/2"

Assembly

    1. Adhere Blushing Bride card stock to card front.
    2. Adhere 5" x 3-3/4" black card stock over Blushing Bride card stock.
    3. Adhere DSP over black card stock.
    4. Stamp image on white card stock.  There is no die for this stamp, so you will need to fussy cut around the edges, or use an electronic cutter (see note below).
    5. To create the black mat for the flowers, place cut flower shape over 4-1/4" x 3-1/4" black card stock, and cut around edge leaving about 1/8" margin.
    NOTE:  I used my Brother Scan 'n Cut to cut the flowers, using a .04 margin around the edges.  I then put black card stock in the Scan 'n Cut and increased the margin from the original .04 to .12 to cut the mat.
    6. Spritz the cut flower image with whatever gold mist you happen to have on hand (I used Gold Shimmering Bliss from my stash).
    7. Adhere flower image to black mat and then attach to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals or foam tape.
Inside
    8. Adhere 5-1/4" x 4" Blushing Bride card stock to inside of card.
    9. Adhere 3-3/4" x 1-2" strip of DSP horizontally near bottom of white card stock, then adhere white card stock over Blushing Bride card stock.

Finished!

For Saturday's stamp camp, I used an entire package of the Texture Chic DSP to make my card kits and sample cards, resulting in 12 cards each of 6 different DSP designs.  These are all of the designs and the coordinating insides.  The card stock colors for each card are shown below.  (Click on any of the images for a closer look.)

I hope you enjoy this quick and easy card!  Ok, I'll admit that if you are fussy cutting the flowers it's not quite as quick, but the result is this awesome card!

Use Rich Razzleberry ink to stamp "HAPPY" on 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" white card stock.  Use black ink to stamp "birthday" over "HAPPY" as shown.  Adhere white card stock to 2-3/4" x 1-3/4" Blackberry Bliss card stock, and then adhere to 2-7/8" x 1-7/8" white card stock.  Adhere 3-layer sentiment over horizontal strip using Stampin' Dimensionals or foam tape.

Inside

    5. Stamp inside sentiment on 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" white card stock.  Adhere to inside of card.

    6. Adhere 4-7/8" x 3/8" strip of DSP near bottom of white card stock as shown.

NOTE:  The Pretty Prints DSP comes with 12 double-sided sheets of 12" x 12" paper with three different designs -- one each of Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral and Evening Evergreen.  Since the theme for this month's stamp camp cards was "masculine cards," I opted to not use the Calypso Coral and instead used the Sun Prints DSP, which has all the same designs, but in Starry Sky.  Stampers were able to select from among the four colors.

For these cards I made the following substitutions (from left to right):
    * Pretty Prints Bermuda Bay DSP, Shaded Spruce card stock, Mint Macaron ink
    * Sun Prints DSP, Starry Sky card stock, Starry Sky ink, stamped off once (see note below)
    * Bermuda Bay (listed above)
    * Pretty Prints Evening Evergreen DSP, Evening Evergreen card stock, Evening Evergreen ink, stamped off once

NOTE:  Stamping off means that after you apply ink to your stamp, you stamp the image on a piece of scrap paper first, and then stamp the image on your card stock, creating a lighter image of the same color.  Both Starry Sky and Evening Evergreen are very dark colors, and the black "birthday" stamp wouldn't have shown up very well if the "HAPPY" image had been stamped full force.  Shaded Spruce and Blackberry Bliss are also very dark colors, but as it happens, Mint Macaron is a lighter color that corresponds well with Shaded Spruce, and Rich Razzleberry is a lighter shade that corresponds well with Blackberry Bliss, so I didn't stamp off those colors.

I hope you enjoy this manly, no bling/no ribbon card.  Of course, you also could bling it up to create a more feminine look.

Happy Stamping!

"Extraordinary" Greeting Card (Stamp Camp North 4/16/2022)

We made this card at my table this past Saturday at Stamp Camp North.  I generally like to make more colorful cards, but this time I decided to stay with black, white and gray with just a splash of color.

Click on image for closer look.

This card was a take-off on a card designed by Narelle Farrugia (Narelle Farrugia - Independent Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator).  My thanks to Narelle for sharing her ideas.

Materials

Stamp Sets
* Dragonfly Garden (dragonfly and inside flying bugs)
* Nature's Harvest (inside flowers)
* Simply Succulents (sentiment)

Paper
* Thick White card stock:
        8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" (card base)
        5-1/4" x 4", partially embossed (see instructions below)
        3-1/4" x 1-1/4" (sentiment)
* White card stock:  5-1/4" x 4" (inside)
* Gray Granite card stock:  3-1/4" x 1" ("shadow" piece on front)
* Shimmery White card stock:  2-1/4" x 1-5/8" (dragonfly)
* Pear Pizzazz card stock: 2-1/2" x 1-3/8" (3 pieces for leaves)
* Pattern Party Designer Series Paper: 5-1/4" x 1-1/4" (accent piece on card front)

Other Stuff
* Black Ink
* Dragonflies Punch
* Bough Punch
* Black Glitter Organdy Ribbon (4-1/2")
* Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon (4-1/4")
* Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders

Assembly

1. Line up 5-1/4" x 4" thick white card stock in the Stripes embossing folder leaving 1-1/4" outside of folder (texture will be added only to the left 2-3/4" of the card stock). Adhere patterned paper to right edge of white embossed card stock.
2. Adhere small piece of gray card stock about 1" from bottom of card stock.
3. Adhere ribbon:  Line up on left edge of embossed card stock as shown.  Wrap excess around right edge, and adhere to back.
4. Adhere embossed white card stock to card front.
5. Use liquid glue or glue dots to adhere leaves.  (I added glue only to the stem in the middle of each bough, leaving the leaves free.)
6. Stamp sentiment on 3-1/4" x 1-1/4" thick white card stock.  Use foam tape or Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up sentiment over ribbon and leaf stems.
7. Stamp dragonfly on Shimmery White card stock and punch out with dragonfly punch.  Attach small sliver of foam tape or Stampin’ Dimensionals to back of dragonfly between the wings, and adhere over leaves, overlapping sentiment as shown.

``

8. Stamp flowers and swarm of flying bugs on 5-1/4" white card stock and adhere to inside of card.

I hope you enjoyed this card!

Fun Fold Card (Sassy Stampers Stamp Camp - April 2)

Stampers made this card at my table yesterday at Sassy Stampers Stamp Camp in Longmont, CO.  It was a fun day, and I really enjoyed visiting with all of the stampers!

Click on image for closer look.

Thanks to Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Mary Knabe for sharing this great fun-fold design!  Visit https://www.stampinpeace.com/stampin_peace/2022/02/bottom-flap-fun-fold-card.html to see Mary's original design, as well as a video tutorial showing how she made the card.

This is called a Bottom Flap Fun Fold Card and it opens like this:

First, open the bottom flap.

Then open the inside card.

These are the materials and cutting instructions for my card.  For assembly instructions, watch Mary's video tutorial (see link above).

Stamp Sets (sentiments):
* Love of Leaves (I thought of you today -- sample shown)
Some alternate stamps that also fit into the oval shape are:
* Pansy Patch (Happy Birthday)
* Queen Ann’s Lace (Hello Friend, Best Wishes, and thanks)

Ink:
* Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin' Pad

Paper:
* Old Olive card stock:
    5-1/4" x 8", scored at 4" (inner card base)
    5-1/4" x 1-1/4" (card stock layer on bottom flap)
    Scrap for scalloped oval behind sentiment
* Pear Pizzazz card stock:
    11" x 4-1/4", scored at 5-1/2" (outer card base)
    To create bottom flap, begin at top of card and cut 2-3/4" along score line.  Turn paper one-quarter to the left and cut from right edge of card front to score line.
* White card stock:
    5" x 3-3/4" (inside)
    Scrap for sentiment
* 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum: scraps for butterflies
* Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper:
    5" x 3-3/4" (inner card front)
    5" x 1" (bottom flap)

Other Stuff:
* Brilliant Wings Dies (butterflies)
* Double Oval Punch (sentiment)

A few helpful tips to keep in mind as you're assembling your card:

1. Since there are essentially two cards -- one inside of the other -- I didn't want to create more thickness for mailing purposes, so nothing on my card is popped up.

2. To attach the butterflies, I used a thin line of liquid glue down the center of each.

3. When you adhere the sentiment to the bottom flap, to avoid gluing the card shut apply glue only to the bottom half of the scalloped oval.  (Ask me how I know this!  OOPS!)

It's always fun for me to create cards with surprise fun folds!  I hope you visit Mary's site for assembly instructions and make this card yourself.

    4. Adhere doily as shown over ribbon.
    5. Punch 2-1/4" circle from Bumblebee card stock.  Stamp sun images as shown and cut out with 2" punch; adhere to 2-1/4" Bumblebee circle.  Adhere this piece over doily with foam tape or Stampin' Dimensionals.
    6. Slip 3" ribbon under 6" ribbon to the right of the sun and tie in a knot.
    7. Stamp "a happy Hello to you" on scrap of white card stock and cut out with Postage Stamp punch.  Adhere to 2-1/8" x 1-1/2" Cinnamon Cider card stock and attach to front of card with foam tape or Stampin' Dimensionals.

This is such a cheery card -- it makes me smile every time I look at it!  Hope you enjoy it.

New Horizons Suite (January-June 2022 Mini Catalog)

This is the card stampers made at my table this past Saturday at Sassy Stampers Stamp Camp in Longmont.  It's a great all-occasion, feel-good card!

Click on image for closer look.

Many thanks to Michelle Jutrisa, a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in Australia, for sharing this idea.  Visit Michelle's site at New Horizons - (butterflysandbows.com).

Materials

New Horizons Suite (January-June 2022 Mini Catalog, p. 43)
* On the Horizon Stamp Set
* Horizon Dies
* New Horizons 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper ("DSP")
* Pebbles Enamel Shapes

Other Materials
* Black card stock:
    8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" (card base)
    4-1/8" x 2-1/8" (mat for DSP)
    2-1/8" x 1-1/8" (mat for sentiment)
* White card stock:
    5-1/4" x 4" (2 pieces -- one for front; one for inside)
    2" x 1" (sentiment)
* Black stamp pad
* New Horizons DSP: 4" x 2"
* Heart & Home DSP: about 2" x 1-5/8" for fence
* Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder
* Foam Tape or Stampin' Dimensionals

Assembly

    1. Fold card stock away from score line to create card base.
    2. Place New Horizons DSP about 1/4" from top and left sides of 5-1/4" x 4" white card stock and stamp weeds image over both pieces of paper; stamp birds image on DSP.
    3. Use embossing folder to add texture to white card stock.  (TIP:  Be sure to allow the black ink to dry completely before embossing, especially if you are embossing several pieces.  Otherwise, the ink may transfer to the embossing folder and then transfer to the next piece embossed.)
    4. Adhere embossed white card stock to card front.
    5. Adhere DSP to 4-1/8" x 2-1/8" black card stock, and then adhere assembled piece over white card stock, being careful to line up weeds image.
    6. Stamp sentiment on 2" x 1" white card stock, and adhere to 2-1/8" x 1-1/8" black card stock.  Adhere assembled piece to card front with foam tape or Stampin' Dimensionals.
    7. Use dies to cut fence piece from Heart & Home DSP.  Cut narrow strips of foam tape or Stampin' Dimensionals and apply to the back of the first and third fence slats; apply liquid glue to the back of the last (smallest) slat and adhere to card.  This heightens the illusion that the fence is going from the foreground to the background.
    8. Apply self-adhesive Pebbles Enamel Shapes near bottom of fence.

Inside

    9.  Stamp the weeds image on the second piece of 5-1/4" x 4" white card stock and adhere to the inside of the card.

I hope you enjoy making this card as much as I did.  The New Horizons DSP makes it so easy to create a beautiful card without much effort.
