Sweet Pinafore Card (June 2012 Class Project)

This is the first of three projects for my June classes.  Thanks to Jen Sannes for this great idea.  Jen's inspiration was a card by Barbara Dykhouse, which was featured in the May issue of Stampin' Success, the monthly publication for Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  Click here to view Jen's version, as well as more of her cute designs.

Instructions:
(Unless otherwise indicated, SNAIL Adhesive used throughout)

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" at 4-1/4"; fold away from scoreline to create card.

2. Emboss 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" Whisper White card stock and adhere to 5-1/4" x 4" Rose Red card stock.  Adhere DSP to bottom edge (I used my Bone Folder to flatten out some of the Pretty Polka Dots at the bottom of the card stock before adhering the DSP so it would stick a little better).  Wrap Seam Binding Ribbon around card stock and tie in a knot on front.  Adhere to front of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
3. Stamp "sweet" on small scrap of Whisper White card stock and cut out with Jewelry Tag Punch.  Use Paper Piercing Tool to punch hole in rounded end, and attach to ribbon knot with safety pin from Vintage Trinkets.

4. Punch three Scallop Squares from Rose Red card stock.  Stamp three "onesies" on Whisper White card stock; cut out with 1-1/4" Square Punch and adhere to Scallop Squares.  Adhere to front of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.  (Note:  I've found that the easiest way for me to line up three pieces across the top of a card like this is to adhere the two side pieces first, and then the middle piece is much easier to align.)

5. Use Owl Builder Punch to punch three vests from DSP.  Cut three 1-3/4" pieces of Scallop Polka-Dot Ribbon (two Melon Mambo and one Tangerine Tango); use needle and thread to gather one side of ribbon (use a running stitch through the tiny eyelet holes along edge of ribbon).  Pull into a ruffle and use Mini Glue Dots to attach one piece to back of each vest.  Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere vests, ruffle side down, over "onesies" images.
Got a boy?!  I discovered a really cute little boy card that also uses the Owl Builder Punch.  Follow this link to view a very sweet card by Maria Sanchez.  (Note:  Maria also used the Cupcake Builder Punch to make the clouds!)

Have fun!
Cathy  ;D
