Easier-Than-I-Thought Fun Fold Card

This is the card I made for a recent swap at my friend Terry Kaspari's monthly meeting.

I've been admiring cards made with this diagonal cut for a long time, but I was never very successful at cutting the paper so everything lined up properly . . . until I saw this great YouTube video showing how simple it really is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lhe9CEJKxjE  Susan Reynolds (Makincraftsstudio) shows 5 different card designs using the same basic cut for each.

Materials:
* Hammermill 100# Premium Color Copy Cover Stock:
    * 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" scored at 4-1/4" (card base)
    * 6-1/2" x 3-1/4" scored at 3-1/4" (small overlapping card)
* Berry Burst card stock: 3-3/8" square and 3-1/8" square
* Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper: 5-1/4" x 4"
* Happiness Abounds Stamp Set (flowers and leaves)
* Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder

Cutting and Assembly:

Card Base:
* On the front of the card, use your paper trimmer to cut a diagonal line from the top at the scoreline to the bottom right corner.  NOTE:  Don't discard that triangle -- I used mine for the inside (see instructions below).
* Emboss Beautiful Bokeh paper with Exposed Brick and then cut a diagonal line from the top left corner to the bottom right corner, creating two triangles.  Adhere one piece to the front flap and the other to the upper right corner on the inside.
* Remember that triangle we cut off the front?  Here's what I did with mine -- before I adhered the Beautiful Bokeh paper to the front flap, I lined it up with that triangle and trimmed 1/4" from the long diagonal side of the white card stock.  Then I adhered it to the lower left corner of the inside.  Since the patterned paper was embossed, it had a little thickness to it, so adding the thick card stock to the opposite corner kind of evened it out so when I adhered the smaller card to the inside it was more level and not "bumpy."  (It also made me happy to use that triangle instead of tossing it into a scrap bin and never looking at it again . . . .)

Smaller Overlapping Card:
* Fold card at score line.  Adhere to 3-3/8" Berry Burst square.  Adhere inside of card with the fold to the right and the opening to the left overlapping the front flap.
* Adhere 3-1/8" square to front flap of small card.
* Decorate to your heart's content with whatever makes you happy!!!

Notes:
* Other than the Hammermill paper, everything I used for this card was from Stampin' Up!
* I had previously colored and copied a bunch of the flowers from the Happiness Abounds stamp set, so it was handy for this card to just print out several sheets of them and cut them out with my Brother Scan 'n Cut.  I had planned on making a simple card, but once I got started putting flowers on the front flap I just couldn't stop myself from adding more and more and more!!!  I even put some leaves and a small bouquet of flowers on the inside -- just because I could.
* I was kind of in a hurry to assemble these cards, so I decided to try out some sheets of adhesive dots I had purchased on Amazon.  The results were disastrous, and it probably would have been just as quick to use my fine tip liquid glue -- I ended up with adhesive on the fronts of the flowers, all over my hands, and on my table!  As far as I can tell, the glue is holding and nothing has fallen off any of the cards, but I doubt I'll be using those sheets again.  Just too messy for me!

I hope you enjoy this card and try it yourself!  And be sure to watch that video -- Susan Reynolds offers easy to understand instructions and lots of tips as she is making her cards.  She also has a Facebook page which I've just started following with lots of great card making and paper crafting ideas!  Visit https://www.facebook.com/makincraftsstudio to check it out.

Delicate Leaves All-Occasion Card (Craft Box 03-20-2026)

For this card, I chose very soft and subtle colors to coordinate with the delicate leaves die.

Materials:
* Gray Granite card stock: 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4” (card base); 4” x 2-5/8” (frame)
* Hammermill 80# Premium Color Copy Cover Stock: 5-1/8” x 3-7/8” (first layer)
* Hammermill 100# Premium Color Copy Cover Stock: 3-1/4” x 1-7/8” (inside frame)
* Petal Pink card stock: 5” x 3-3/4” (embossed second layer)
* Soft Seafoam card stock: 3-1/2” x 1-1/2” (leaves die cut)
Inside:
* Petal Pink card stock: 5-1/4” x 4” (first layer)
* Hammermill 80# Premium Color Cover Stock: 5-1/8” x 3-7/8” (second layer)
* Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder
* Memorable Blooms Dies (Ali Express knock-off of Stampin’ Up! set)
* Deckled Rectangle Dies (3-15/16" x 2-9/16" for outside of frame; 3-1/8" x 1-3/4" for inside)
* Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems
** Unless otherwise indicated all materials are from Stampin’ Up!

Assembly:
* Adhere 5-1/8” x 3-7/8” white cardstock to card front.
* Adhere embossed Petal Pink card stock over white.
* Center and adhere Gray Granite frame.
* Note: Before stamping sentiment on white rectangle, be sure to match up the corners to the frame making sure you stamp the sentiment in the correct orientation.  Then go ahead and stamp your sentiment and adhere to inside of frame.
* Adhere leaves and bling over frame.
Inside:
* Adhere 5-1/4” x 4” Petal Pink card stock to the inside.
* Adhere 5-1/8” x 3-7/8” white card stock over pink.
* Optional steps:
    *Adhere cutout piece of frame as shown.
    * Adhere leaves over the cutout piece.

* I hope you enjoy this design.  It's kind of a departure from my usual darker and brighter colors, but perfect for early spring!

Turtle-y Awesome Fun Fold Card (Craft Box 03-20-2026)

This card was inspired by my friend Janet Weisheit who made a very similar card for a swap last month.  Since I've had these turtles since sometime last year I decided it was time to use them.

Side View

This card looks difficult to make, but it's actually pretty easy!  It's kind of built in two separate pieces and then assembled into one card, so I took the two pieces apart on Janet's card to measure them.  Here's the info:

Materials:
* Real Red card stock:
    * 9” x 4-1/4”, scored at 1-1/4”, 2-1/2”, and 5-3/4” (card base)
    * 11” x 2-1/2”, scored at 5-1/2” (tall front and back panel)
* Bright yellow textured card stock: 5-1/4” x 2-1/4”
* Dark yellow textured card stock: 2” x 2-1/4”
* Light yellow textured card stock: 1-1/4” x 2-1/4”
* White card stock: 5-1/4” x 2-1/4” (back panel); 2” x 5/8” (sentiment)
* Turtle-y Cute Designer Series Paper: turtle cut-outs
* Freshly Baked patterned paper: 4" x 3"; 4" x 1" (polka dots)
* Washi Paper punch
Notes:
* Card stock, turtle paper and punch are from Stampin’ Up!
* Words on back are from Ali Express (knock-off of Stampin’ Up! Turtle-y Awesome stamp set); Happy Birthday is from Rubbernecker Stamps (now Brass & Bliss Craft Co.)
* Freshly Baked paper is by Close to My Heart

Assembly:
* Fold out card base and, with 1-1/4” section at bottom, adhere 4” x 1” polka dot paper to bottom flap.  Skip the next 1-1/4” section, and adhere 4” x 3” polka dot paper to the third section.  Set aside.
* Adhere 5-1/4” x 2-1/4” bright yellow textured card stock to front panel of red 11” x 2-1/2” card stock.  Use marker to trace across one 2-1/4” edge of 2-1/4” x 1-1/4” light yellow card stock and one 2-1/4” edge of 2-1/4” x 2” dark yellow card stock.  With marked edges toward the top, adhere dark yellow card stock to bottom of bright yellow card stock and adhere light yellow card stock over dark yellow card stock
* Adhere turtle cut-outs as shown (I used pieces of foam adhesive to pop up balloon and chef turtle).  If desired, use Q tip to smudge a shadow near feet of each turtle (see photo).
* Adhere Happy Birthday label to 2-1/4” x 3/4” red card stock; use foam adhesive to adhere label near bottom of light yellow card stock.
* Stamp sentiment on 5-1/4” x 2-1/4” white card stock and adhere to back flap of 11” x 2-1/2” red card stock.
* Apply adhesive near center of 1-1/4" bottom section of card base (over the polka dot paper); adhere front flap of red card stock, lining up the two pieces at the bottom.
* Apply adhesive near center of back panel on card base and adhere back of flap by folding it down over the adhesive.

A lot of words to describe a fairly easy process.  I'll try to get back to this in the next week or so and add a video tutorial -- as they say, a picture says a thousand words!

Spring Flowers Fun Fold Card (Stamp Camp North 3/14/2026)

If you hadn't noticed, I've been making a lot of spring flower fun fold cards lately.  I think I'm still trying to recover from the huge number of Christmas and winter cards I had made toward the end of the year, and I'm just trying to thaw out!!!  This is the card we made at my table this past Saturday at Stamp Camp North in Westminster.

I already had the flower image on my computer, so it was a cinch to print and cut out the design on my Brother Scan 'n Cut machine!  Then the search was on to find some paper in my stash to match the flower!  This is what I came up with.

Materials:
* Spotlight on Nature stamp set by Stampin' Up! (flowers image)
* Scalloped Contours dies by Stampin' Up!
* Petals & More Thinlits dies by Stampin' Up! (label for sentiment)
* Black Stampin' Write Marker by Stampin' Up!
* Starform Round Black Glitter Stickers (Stamplistic.com)
* Watermelon Wonder card stock by Stampin' Up!: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 2-1/8" and 4-1/4"
* Smokey Shadow card stock by PapertreyInk.com: 5-1/4" x 4"; 5-1/4" x 1-7/8" (2 pcs); 3-7/8" x 2-5/8" (2 pcs)
* White card stock: 3-3/4" x 2-1/2" for scalloped rectangle die cut; 3-5/8" x 2-3/8" for inside
* Patterned paper for background**: 5" x 3-3/4"; 5" x 1-5/8" (2 pcs)

** When searching my stash, I was unable to find any paper I liked for the background pieces.  However, I did find a few sheets from a vintage pad of Stampin' Up! paper that had this design on it.  My only problem was the design was in green (perhaps Pear Pizzazz).  So to get the color I wanted, I copied the paper on the black & white setting of my printer.  It turned out to be exactly what I had been looking for!

Assembly:
* Fold card in half at 4-1/4" score line; fold front flap back at 2-1/8" scoreline, creating a "Z" card.  (TIP:  I found it easier to adhere paper to the three panels by opening it back up and laying it flat.  I then followed the steps below.)
* Adhere dark gray card stock to each of the three panels.  Adhere patterned paper over card stock.
* Adhere small white rectangular card stock to coordinating dark gray card stock.  Center and adhere to inside panel.
* Adhere scalloped rectangle to second piece of dark gray card stock.  Adhere flowers to scalloped rectangle.  Close card and adhere assembled piece to front panel, lining up to cover rectangle on inside of card.
* Use brush end of black marker to trace a line around the edge of the white label.  Stamp sentiment on label and adhere to front with foam tape or hexagons.
* Apply round black glitter stickers to front panel as desired.

Many of the ladies who made this card at my table told me they really liked the design and how easy it was to assemble.  I hope you'll try it too!

Sweet Welcome Baby or Kids Birthday Card

What a fun time I had designing this card!  One of the ladies in my Thornton Active Adult class had requested a birthday card for her 4-year-old niece, so this is what I came up with.  A perfect opportunity to use a recently-purchased stamp set from Unity!!!

Materials:
* Li'l Jumbo stamp set from Unity Stamp Co. (the elephant was stamped, colored, copied, and then cut out on my Brother Scan 'n Cut machine)
* Heart balloon dies from TEMU
* Label dies from TEMU
* 2003-2005 In Color 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!
* Small amount of white card stock for sentiment label
* Small amount of black card stock for balloon die cut
* Dark Indigo, Real Red and Bumblebee card stock for blue card
* Sweet Sugarplum, Lemon Lolly and Balmy Blue card stock for pink card
* Oplymio Thick Vellum (Amazon.com)
* 2-1/2" circle punch
(Dark Indigo card stock is from PapertreyInk.com; all other card stock is from Stampin' Up!)

Measurements:
* Card base is 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"
* First layer (polka dots) is 5-1/4" x 4"
* Second layer (yellow card stock) is 4-11/16" x 3-7/16"
* Third layer (hearts) is 4-1/2" x 3-3/4"
* Inside is plain . . . just one piece of yellow card stock (5-1/4" x 4") and one piece of white card stock (5" x 3-3/4")

Assembly:
* Adhere polka dot paper to card front
* Adhere yellow card stock over polka dots
* Adhere heart paper over yellow card stock
* Adhere elephant to center of vellum circle
* Assemble balloons (black full die cut on bottom; yellow balloons over black balloons; blue and red balloons over yellow balloons).  Adhere string to elephant's "hand".
* Apply glue to back of vellum circle behind elephant (so glue doesn't show through vellum) and adhere to card front as shown.  Use foam hexagons to adhere balloons.
* Stamp sentiment on white label; cut mat from Dark Indigo or Sweet Sugarplum card stock.  Adhere sentiment to mat and adhere to card front with foam hexagons.
* Adhere 5-1/4" x 4" yellow card stock to inside of card; adhere 5" x 3-3/4" white card stock over yellow.

I really enjoyed making this card.  A fun break from all the adult cards I'm accustomed to making.

Here We Go Again . . . Yet Another Stash-Buster Easy Fun Fold Card

Yes, you've seen this one before, but this time I added a little extra twist (or tear).

This time I used Splendid Autumn 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper and Gorgeous Grape card stock from Stampin' Up! and added another ripped edge to the design.  If you click on the photo above and look closely, you'll see that the edges of not only the 3/4" x 5-1/4" patterned paper along the left edge of the card, but also the flap of the 6" x 5-1/4" patterned paper are ripped along the edge.  Since the card on the left has such a plain, almost solid color design on the reverse side of the patterned paper, I thought it needed a little more contrast.  Thus the extra rip.  Was it a pain in the you-know-what?  Well, yes, a little -- since you're removing only about 1/8" to 1/4" from the edge, it's a little more difficult and tedious to rip, but I was pleased with the result.

Another Fun Fold Card Just Like the Other One . . . Almost

I love the design of this easy fun fold card -- so much so that we made it again at Sassy Stampers Card Camp in Berthoud last Saturday and Thornton Active Adult Center this past Tuesday!  This time I used some bright spring flowery paper.

Materials:
* The card base is 110 lb. white card stock from PapertreyInk.com:  5-1/2" x 4-1/4".
* The next layer is Pinefeather card stock from PapertreyInk.com: 5-1/4" x 4".
* The flap attached to the front is 4-1/4" x 3" (also Pinefeather), scored at 7/16" from one short edge.
* The flowered layer is Floral Impressions 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up!: 5" x 3-3/4"; a 1” strip is cut from both the right and left side for the inside; leaving a 3-3/4” x 3” piece for the front flap.
* The white card stock on the inside is 3-3/4" x 2-3/4".
* The 2-1/2” circle punch (Stampin’ Up!) was used to cut the circle under the sentiment out of Oplymio Thick Vellum (Amazon.com).
* The sentiment is a Karen Burniston die from my stash
* The cute butterflies with gems are from TEMU.

The basic assembly instructions are exactly the same as the last card I posted from my class at The Craft Box.  (https://cathyscraftroom.blogspot.com/2026/03/floral-fun-fold-card-craft-box-class.html)

I love these easy cards featuring patterned paper.  If you're like me and have a lot of extra paper in your stash, these are a great way to use it up.

Floral Fun Fold Card (Craft Box Class 2/27/2026)

This was a very simple card that we made last Friday.  I figured since our first card was a little time-consuming, we should have a few less complicated cards to finish up the class.

The idea for this card came from my friend Kirsten.  Her card used different paper, but I had just enough of this paper left over from my corner flip card (Stamp Camp North) to make enough for this class.

The front center piece flips up to reveal a place for writing a message on the inside.

Materials:
* The card base is Terracotta Tile card stock from PapertreyInk.com:  5-1/2" x 4-1/4".
* The next layer is Neenah Astrobrights Eclipse Black card stock: 5-1/4" x 4".
* The flowered layer is Amanda Pearl & Cardstock by The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby): 5" x 3-3/4"
* The white card stock on the inside is 4" x 2-3/4".
* The black flap attached to the front is 4-1/4" x 3", scored at 7/16" from one short edge.
* I used a couple of retired Stampin' Up! punches for the sentiment:
        * Black backing: Lasting Label Punch
        * White sentiment: Wide Oval Punch

Assembly:
* Fold 4-1/4" x 3" black card stock at the score line; center and attach inside of the 7/16" flap to the back of the 5-1/4" x 4" black card stock so the large flap falls to the front.  Adhere the 5-1/4" x 4" card stock to the Terracotta Tile card stock.
* Cut 1" from both the left and right short edges of the flowered paper.  Attach the center piece (4" x 3") to the front of the black flap.
* Open the flap and attach the left and right pieces of flowered paper 1/8" from each the edges of black card stock.  Be sure to match up the pieces so they form the complete picture when the card is closed.
* Center and adhere the 4" x 2-3/4" white card stock between the two flowered pieces.
* Stamp sentiment on white oval and adhere to the black backing piece; adhere to front clap with foam tape or hexagons.

Wasn't that easy?!

This class included four cards; the other three are pictured below and info for each of them has been posted previously.

I hope you enjoy these cards and try them yourself!

Easiest Fun Fold/DSP Stash Buster Card Ever!!!!

I LOVE this card!  It's beautiful and takes about 5 minutes to make!  Ok, maybe that's a slight exaggeration -- let's say 15 minutes.

This was my design for a recent card swap with several of my friends.  We also made it in my Craft Box class this past Friday.

One of the things I like best about this card is that it uses all but a 3/4" x 3/4" square of 6" x 6" double-sided patterned paper!  Perfect for some serious stash-busting!!!

Materials:
* Thoughtful Journey 6” x 6” DSP
* Lost Lagoon, Peach Pie, Petunia Pop & White Card Stock
* Rhinestone Basic Jewels
* Scalloped Wishes Stamp Set (inside)
(All materials are current Stampin’ Up! products except the “Celebrate” stamp which I borrowed from a friend at a recent crafter’s retreat.)

Assembly:
* Cut color card stock to measure 5-1/2” x 4-1/4”
* Cut 3/4" strip from bottom of DSP.  DO NOT DISCARD.
* Score 2” from left side of DSP and fold with “pretty” side inside fold.  Adhere to 5-1/2” x 4-1/4” card stock.
* Cut 3/4" off one end of 3/4" strip.  Rip paper away from one long edge and adhere to card front at folded edge.
* Cut white card stock to measure 5” x 1-3/4”.  Stamp sentiment and adhere 1/8” from inside fold.
* Cut white label to any size you want for front sentiment (the one on my card is 2-3/4” x 3/4").  Cut card stock 1/4" larger to mat sentiment (mine is 3” x 1”).  Stamp sentiment and adhere to card stock.  Adhere to front flap with form tape or hexagons.
* Add rhinestones wherever you like.

These are a few alternate colorways using the same patterned paper:

Have you started searching through your patterned paper yet?!

Spring Four-Panel Fun Fold Card (Craft Box Class 02-27-2026)

This is one of the cards we made at my Craft Box class this past Friday.  It looks kind of complicated, but it's really not at all.  The only tricky part is attaching the pop-out mechanism, and even that isn't too bad.

It's kind of hard to see the flowers popped out from this view, so here's another photo showing the card from the top.

Thanks to Shirley Gentry for sharing this card layout.  I've listed all of my measurements and materials below; you can see assembly info at https://stampinwithshirleyg.com/stampin-up-mixed-media-floral/.
The only difference between Shirley's measurements and mine is that my pop-out mechanism is  1" x 4-15/16" and Shirley's is 1" x 5".  The reason I did this is because when I cut it at 1" x 5" and scored 1/2" from each end, the folded ends landed on top of the folds of the quad-folded card base, causing the mechanism strip to crinkle when the card was folded.  It also was more difficult to fold the card and made the folded edges kind of bulky.

Materials
* I used 100# Hammermill Premium Color Copy Cover Stock for my base : 8" x 5-1/2", scored at 2", 4", and 6"
* My pop-out mechanism is cut from Prairie Grass card stock by PapertreyInk.com: 1" x 4-15/16", scored 1/2" from each end (DO NOT SCORE at 1/2" and 4-1/2", because that will have the same effect as cutting the paper 1" x 5" (paper crinkling) -- you really do need to turn the paper around and score it 1/2" from each end so it lines up just inside the 2" and 6" scorelines on the inside.)
* The four panels shown above, plus the two panels on the front (see photo below) are all cut from Wildly Flowering Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! : 5-1/4" x 1-3/4" (6 pieces).  The paper is double-sided, so the two center panels on the inside are the reverse side of the flowered design on the outside and front panels.
* The belly band is cut from a coordinating piece of the same DSP: 1" x 10".  I wrapped the belly band around from the back and overlapped the edges on the front so I could cover the seam with the sentiment label.
* For the sentiment on the front of the card I used two retired Stampin' Up! punches:
        * The Everyday Label Punch was used to cut the white shape from Hammermill 80# Cover Stock.
        * The Label Me Lovely Punch was used to cut the backing piece from Prairie Grass card stock.
* I also added a few random gems -- the ones shown are another retired Stampin' Up! product -- Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels.
* The flowers on the pop-out section were cut from Hammermill 100# Cover Stock -- I cut two of the largest die (three flowers and one set of leaves on each).  I also used the Country Bouquet Punch (also a retired Stampin' Up! product) to cut three additional leaves.
* I used sponges to apply color to the flowers and leaves using Pretty In Pink for the petals, Early Espresso for the centers, and Mossy Meadow for the leaves.  One of the large die cuts was glued to the pop-out mechanism, being careful to avoid getting glue on the paper behind it.  The second die cut was turned the opposite direction and glued over the first one.  The three extra leaves were kind of tucked in randomly behind the largest flower on the top die cut.
* ONE IMPORTANT NOTE:  In Shirley's directions you will see that you need to glue the two ends of the pop-out panel to the inside before adding the DSP to the two center panels.  This is a little challenging, but doable.  (Yes, this is the tricky part.)

I really enjoyed making this card and hope you will try it too.  Between my instructions and the ones on Shirley Gentry's site, you should have no problems successfully making this fun and beautiful card!

P.S.  Yes, I do use a lot of Stampin' Up! retired products -- that's because having been a demonstrator for 20 years before I retired last year, I have a lot of 'em!!!

Watch for more information about the cards we made in my Craft Box class -- probable tomorrow.  It's dinner time and this one wore me out!!!

My Last (maybe) Corner Flip Card (Stamp Camp North, 2/14/2026)

Happy Sunday!!!  Yesterday was Stamp Camp North at the Westminster Elks, and since I found some BEAUTIFUL pearlized paper at Hobby Lobby, I decided to make one final corner flip card.

It's kind of hard to tell from this photo, but the large metallic flower is rose gold foil card stock.  The background paper has a pearlescent finish, so no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to get the metallic color to show up without getting too much shine on the black background.  So you'll just have to take my word for it that these colors look AMAZING together.

As I mentioned in my previous post featuring this card design, it is surprisingly quick and easy to make.  The hardest part of the card is deciding how to arrange the embellishments!  Rather than repeating all the information here, you can click on this link to my other post explaining how I made the basic card.  You also will find a link there to a YouTube video by the person who inspired me to try this fun fold.

A couple more photos -- the first shows the inside of the card when opened; the second is a layout showing how I placed my paper on the front and inside.

NOTE:  The patterned paper in the upper left hand corner near the white
is the piece I cut from the paper on the front of the card.

And finally, here's a list of materials I used for this card.

* 80# Black Card Stock by The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby): 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" for card base
* Amanda Pearl & Cardstock by The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby): 5-1/4" x 4" - 2 different coordinating designs -- one for front; one for inside
* 80# White Premium Color Copy Cover Stock by Hammermill (inside)
* Rose Gold Foil card stock by Sizzix (large flower)
* Cocoa Bean card stock by PapertreyInk (leaves)
* Really Rust, Cajun Craze & and Basic Beige card stock by Stampin’ Up! (smaller flowers)
* Brushed Bouquet Dies by Stampin’ Up!
* Bough Builder and Three Flower punches by Stampin’ Up!
* Ornate Frames Dies by Stampin' Up! (label for sentiment)

I hope you enjoy this card, and now that I've shown you this fold using three different papers and embellishments (see photos below), I hope you try it yourself!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Yup -- it's only a month(ish) away!  So I decided to make one cute simple little St. Pat's Day card because next month we'll already be moving on to spring cards.  And we STILL haven't had much snow in Denver!  As one of the ladies in my class pointed out yesterday, it's gonna be a long, dry summer if we don't get some big snow dumps soon!

This card went together very quickly.  The most difficult part was placing the hearts to form a shamrock -- and evern that wasn't difficult!

Materials
I again raided my stash to find the pieces parts for this card.
* Old Olive card stock from Stampin' Up!: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored and folded at 4-1/4" (card base); scraps for heart punches; about 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" for St. Pat's die cut (inside)
* White card stock: 5-1/4" x 4" (2 pieces -- one for front; one for inside); 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" for deckled edge circle die cut
* Certainly Celery card stock from Stampin' Up!: 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" for circle punch
* Specialty patterned paper**: 5" x 1-7/8" (2 pieces of contrasting colors)
* Old Olive marker from Stampin' Up! for shamrock stem
* 2-1/4" Circle punch
* Three Hearts punch from Stampin' Up! for shamrock leaves
* Happy St. Patrick's Day die from Karen Burniston
* Deckled Edge Circles nested dies from TEMU
* Thin Silver Trim (unknown source): about 7"-8"

** This is Specialty Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!, but I don't remember the name of it.

Brief Instructions
* Adhere 5-1/4" x 4" white card stock to card front.
* Line up two 5" x 1-7/8" pieces of patterned paper next to each other and adhere over white card stock.
* Adhere 2-1/4" Certainly Celery circle to white deckled edge circle.  Arrange hearts to look like shamrock leaves and adhere to circle.  Use marker to draw stem.  Make double loop bow (about 1-1/2" wide) and adhere at top of stem.  Use foam tape or hexagons to adhere assembled piece to card front.
* Adhere remaining 5-1/4" x 4" card stock inside of card.  Use liquid glue to adhere sentiment.

How easy was that?!

One of the people in my class yesterday wasn't particularly into St. Patrick's Day, so she arranged two of the hearts and stamped a small birthday greeting in the circle on the front.  She used the third heart to decorate the inside.  I love it when people in my classes find creative ways to use the pieces parts I give them in their kits.  Because, after all, once that card kit leaves my hand it's not mine anymore, and I want people to be happy with the cards they make!

Next up is my stamp camp at Westminster Elks on Saturday.  I will post info about that card soon after.

Another Corner Flip Card

This card is one we made in my class at Trail Winds Active Adult Center in Thornton yesterday.  It's the same design as one of the valentines in my previous post, but with different paper it's got a totally different look.

It's called a corner flip card, and the idea came from Chris Slogar of Buckeye Inklings.  Her website (https://buckeyeinklings.com/2020/01/27/heartfelt-corner-flip-card/) shows several different views of her card, as well as a video tutorial.  Alternatively, if you just want to watch the tutorial, you can go directly to Chris's YouTube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C32lXSGYSdI.

The card looks difficult, and because of that I had backed off from making it for several months (I didn't want to try to measure the layer pieces).  Once I watched the video I discovered how easy it actually is!  All you need is an 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of card stock for the base (same as a regular A2 card).  After you score it and fold it at 4-1/4", you mark 3-1/2" from the left side at the top fold, and 2-3/4" from the top on the left edge of the card.  Keeping the card closed, score and fold a diagonal line between the two marks.  If it's easier, you can pencil in a line connecting the two marks and then score along that line.  Once done, all you need to do is kind of push down on the top left side, folding it toward the inside of the card -- the two diagonal lines pretty much automatically fold inside the card to complete the card base.  On mine, after I folded it I used my bone folder on all of the folds to make them nice and crisp.

The layers are also simple to make!  Cut your paper 5-1/4" x 4", and then use the same measurements (3-1/2" at top and 2-3/4" at left edge), to mark where to cut it.  To fit into the triangle shapes on the inside, you then need to trim the triangle piece by about 3/8" to 1/2".  For the front you can discard the triangle, but on my card I saved it and placed it in the upper left corner next to the white card stock on the inside of the card.

Since I used double-sided paper on my card, the pieces on the inside top were cut exactly the same way as the front piece, and when I flipped it over it fit perfectly into the upper section.  If you are not using double-sided paper, you will need to reverse the cut for the top section -- mark 3-1/2" from the right edge of the paper and 2-3/4" on the right edge.

These are the materials I used for my card (everything came from my stash and may no longer be available):
* Fresh Fig card stock from Stampin' Up!: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored and folded at 4-1/4", then scored again as described above for the card base; scraps for punches
* Patterned Paper from Close to My Heart: 5-1/4" x 4" - two pieces; scraps for circles
* White card stock for inside: 5-1/4" x 4"
* Gold Shimmer 65# card stock by The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby): scraps for star punches
* Punches from my stash: Large and small stars; 1", 1-1/4", 1-3/8" and 1-1/2" circles
* Hello die from Winnie & Walter
* Starform Glitter stickers available from www.stamplistic.com

That's it!  I hope you enjoy this fun fold card . . . watch for another card next week made with this same layout.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Ok, it isn't really Valentine's Day, but it's close.  And I had said I would share photos of the cards I made for my friend's annual V-Day order.

All four of these cards were made using dies I purchased from TEMU.com
I kind of copped the idea for the top left card from my friend Kirsten.

The bottom right card was inspired by a card I spotted on TEMU.com,
which is also where I purchased the die set.

These are just a few ideas to inspire you to make your own cards, so I don't have instructions or materials lists for them.  However, I can direct you to the sites where I found tutorials for a couple of the cards.

In the second group of cards, the card in the upper left-hand corner was inspired by Chris Slogar of Buckeye Inklings.  Her website (https://buckeyeinklings.com/2020/01/27/heartfelt-corner-flip-card/) has several photos showing different views of her card, as well as a video tutorial.  Alternatively, you can go directly to Chris's YouTube tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C32lXSGYSdI.

The two weirdly shaped cards were inspired by Tami White at StampwithTami.com.  Visit Tami's blog at https://stampwithtami.com/blog/2022/01/blog-hop-video-twisted-gatefold-series-part-3/ for a free downloadable instruction sheet, as well as a video tutorial.  Or, you can access her YouTube tutorial directly at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWV494KzYSM&t=1s.

I hope you've gotten a little inspiration from these card designs.

ZFold Heart Card (Sassy Card Camp, February 7, 2026)

This is a very simple fun-fold design that we made at my table yesterday in Berthoud.  Materials and measurements are listed below.

Card front

Inside

Measurements
* Card base is 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 1-3/8" and 4-1/4".  The card is folded closed at the 4-1/4" score line, and then folded back toward the front at the 1-3/8" score line to create the center panel.
* White card stock on inside of card is 5-1/4" x 2-5/8".
* Detailed patterned paper is 5-1/4" x 1-3/8" for inside; 5-1/4" x 2-5/8" for front.
* Embossed card stock for center panel is 5-1/4" x 1-1/8".
* Card stock and subtle patterned paper are 2-1/2" x 2-1/4" for pocket die cut.
* Card stock for tag is 2-3/4" x 1-9/16", trimmed at the corners to match heart tag.
* 1/8" ribbon for tag is approximately 5"

Materials
I did a little shopping here and there, including my own immense craft stash, for this card.
* True Thyme card stock, vintage color from Stampin' Up! (card base)
* River Rock card stock, another long-retired color from Stampin' Up! (center panel, tag and pocket)
* Gold Wedding Texture patterned paper for pocket (The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby)
* Gold Wedding Intricate patterned paper for inside and left panel (The Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby)
* Hammermill White Premium Color Copy Cover Stock (80#) for inside
* Reverse Banner Dies from Fun Stampers Journey for pocket
* Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up!
* Heart Tags from TEMU
* 1/8" Red Sparkle Ribbon from Walmart

A Little Mini-Tutorial
* Adhere white card stock 1/8" from fold on inside of card.
* Adhere 5-1/4" x 1-3/8" patterned paper 1/8" from left edge on inside of card (should fit next to white card stock, but if it overlaps the white, that's fine too)
* Adhere 5-1/4" x 2-5/8" patterned paper 1/8" from left side of card front.
* Fold flap to the left over patterned paper and adhere embossed card stock to center panel.
* To create pocket, use liquid glue to draw a fine line along left, right, and bottom edges of card stock pocket shape, leaving top unglued.  Place patterned paper pocket over card stock.
* Use ribbon to tie card stock and heart tags together, and then slide back (card stock) tag into pocket, leaving heart tag hanging free in front of pocket.
* Adhere pocket (but NOT the tag) to center panel with foam tape or hexagons.  Make sure you can slip the tag in and out of the pocket.

That's it!  I didn't add any sentiments to this card because the design is so versatile you could use it for wedding, anniversary, Valentine's Day, or really any non-occasion when you just want to send someone a little love.

Tri-Fold Accordion Card

This is a card I made for a shoebox swap at my friend Terry Kaspari's house last Sunday.  What's a shoebox swap?  Several of my friends and I (all either current or former Stampin' Up! demonstrators) designed cards and then we set up card making stations and moved around the room making each others' cards.  Great fun!!!  Of course, there was also food involved -- we broke halfway through and had a little potluck.

Card Front

The measurements and materials for my card appear below, but for a detailed version of how to make a Tri-Fold Accordion card, visit the Brass & Bliss blog for full directions from the original designer, Kendra Sand.  Here's the link:  https://blog.brassandbliss.com/how-to-make-a-colorful-tri-fold-accordion-card-for-fall/

My version of the card is turned 90 degrees so the opening is at the bottom of the card (Kendra's original design opens on the right side).

Materials:
This was a Stampin' Up! new products swap, so I used all Stampin' Up! products for this card.

Paper:
* The card base is Old Olive card stock: 11" x 4-1/4", scored at 2-1/2", 3-3/4", 6-3/4" and 8-1/4".
* The two large panels are 4" x 4" cut from Basic Beige card stock.  I also used Basic Beige to cut the pieces to fit inside of each of the panels in this card:  4" x 1", 4" x 1-1/4", 4" x 2-1/2", and 3" x 1-1/4", as well as one more 4" x 4" piece for the big die-cut circle on the front, and a small scrap for one of the punched shapes.
* The second layer on the two large panels are 3-3/4" x 3-3/4", cut from two different patterns of Nature Walk 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper.
* Finally, I used bits and pieces of Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake card stock to cut the punched and die-cut leaves and buds.

Tools & Other Stuff:
* The sentiments are from the Exploring Nature stamp set, and were stamped with Mossy Meadow ink.
* The Bough Builder punch (retired) was used to cut the large leaves and buds.
* The Autumn Expressions dies (retired) were used to cut the smaller, "fringy" leaves.
* Spotlight on Nature dies for big circle on front.

The photos below show how the card looks when you flip up the panels.

I hope you visit the Brass & Bliss blog and make Kendra's or my version of this card.  Or better yet, choose your own colors to create your own unique card!  It's great fun and has so many possibilities.
