Christmas Countdown Day 3 - Seasonal Chums Globe

This is a cute little ornament I had planned to make for my holiday craft sales this year, but alas, time flies quicker than a wink, and I ran out of time.  But I did get one made and am sharing it with you today.

Instructions

1. Use Basic Black ink to stamp snowman image on Shimmery White card stock.  Color image using Aqua Painter or Blender Pen and Stampin' Pads.  (The lids for these Stampin' Pads are slightly flexible, so if you squish the top and bottom together before opening, you will have enough ink in the lid to use with your Aqua Painter or Blender Pen.)

OPTIONAL:  Use Fine Tip Glue Pen to add a dot of glue to eyes and each of the buttons to make them shiny.  If you do this step, be sure to allow plenty of drying time before moving on to the next step.

2. Use Big Shot and Framelits die to cut out image.  There are two images on this stamp -- front and back -- which when folded in half at the top creates a tag with a hole for a hanging string.  For this ornament I folded the snowman, but rather than leaving it open as a tag, I used Liquid Glue to adhere the front and back together, leaving the hole for the hanging string intact.

3. Remove top of globe and use a funnel to add a small amount of synthetic snow.  Cut about 12" of thread and string it through the hole at the top of the snowman.  Holding the end of the thread, roll up the snowman vertically to make it small enough to fit through the opening at the top and insert into the globe.  Wrap the tails of the thread around the rim of the opening and secure with a glue dot.  Use the tweezers, if needed, to unroll and flatten out the snowman.  Replace top of globe.

4. Make a hanging loop and a loopy bow from the 1/8" ribbon.  Tie the hanging loop to the wire at the top of the globe; attach the bow with hot glue.

Hope you enjoy this one!  A few years ago I made a similar ornament, but used acetate (window sheets) to stamp a snowflake (view that project by clicking HERE).  I will admit that using the double thickness of card stock for this snowman proved to be a little more challenging to insert and then flatten it back out once it was inside the globe (the acetate just pops back to a flat piece as soon as it's inside the globe), but I loved the front and back of this little guy, so I think it was worth the effort.
