Flowers for Mother's Day (May Class Projects)

Happy Mothers Day to all!  Today I'm sharing with you the three beautiful flower cards we made in my May class.  Many of these stamp sets, as well as some of the colors, are retiring at the end of May, so this was my last chance to use them.  (Retiring items are marked with an asterisk in the materials lists below.)

Instructions
(NOTE:  SNAIL Adhesive used throughout unless otherwise indicated)

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Wisteria Wonder card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card base.

2. Adhere 5-1/4" x 4" Pear Pizzazz card stock to card front.

3. Use Big Shot and Embossing Folder to add texture to 5" x 3-3/4" Whisper White card stock; adhere to front of card over Pear Pizzazz.

4. Use Basic Black ink to stamp flower and sentiment images from Butterfly Basics on 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" Whisper White card stock (see photo for position).  Use Wisteria Wonder ink to stamp paint swatch stamp from Sunshine Sayings over flower image.  Repeat over stems and leaves using Pear Pizzazz ink.  Adhere to 4-1/2" x 3" Wisteria Wonder card stock.  Attach this piece to front of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

5. Make a small bow from 1/8" ribbon and attach over stems with a Glue Dot.

For the inside of this card I chose to stamp just a simple greeting and a splash of color.

That's it!  Quick and easy!

Card 2

This card uses the Eclipse Technique and was designed by Stampin' Up! demonstrator Stephanie Smith.  It's a great card -- adaptable to many uses: Birthday, Sympathy, Get Well, etc.  I used it as a Mother's Day card for my mother-in-law.

Materials

Stamp Set
* You're Inspiring
* Petal Palette

Paper
* Rich Razzleberry card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; scrap for scalloped oval)
* Always Artichoke card stock* (5-1/4" x 4")
* Whisper White card stock (5" x 3-3/4"; scrap for oval)

Ink and Color
* Basic Black Arhival Stampin' Pad*
* Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin' Pad
* Watercolor Pencils (Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight)

Accessories and Tools
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies
* Layering Ovals Framelits Dies
* Linen Thread
* Aqua Painter
* Adhesives:  SNAIL Adhesive; Stampin' Dimensionals; Foam Adhesive Strips

Instructions
(NOTE:  SNAIL Adhesive used for assembly unless otherwise indicated)

1. Score Rich Razzleberry 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"  card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card base.

2. Adhere 5-1/4" x 4" Always Artichoke card stock to front of card.

3. Stamp flower image from You're Inspiring on 5" x 3-3/4" Whisper White card stock.  Use Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Watercolor Pencils to color in flowers and stems.  DO NOT COLOR TINY CENTERS OF FLOWERS YET.  Use Aqua Painter to spread out the color, being careful to not cover the tiny centers of the flowers.  NOW go back and add the Daffodil Delight to the tiny centers of the flowers.  (NOTE:  The reason for doing it this way is because if the Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight mix while you're using the Aqua Painter, it will turn to brown -- purple + yellow = brown.)

4. Use Big Shot and Framelits Dies to cut the frame from the flower (see photo below).  (NOTE:  I chose the 1-5/8" and 2-5/8" square dies.)

5. To assemble, adhere the large outer piece to the 5-1/4" x 4" Always Artichoke card stock.  Then, place, BUT DO NOT ADHERE, the frame piece inside the larger piece.  This is used solely as a guide for placement of the small inside square.  Adhere the small inside square to the Always Artichoke card stock, and then remove the frame piece.

6. Use Linen Thread to tie a small bow around the left side of the frame as shown below, and then adhere to the Always Artichoke card stock with Foam Adhesive Strips.

7. For the sentiment, use the Big Shot and Layering Ovals dies to cut a 2-1/8" scalloped oval from Rich Razzleberry card stock.  Stamp sentiment on scrap of Whisper White card stock and cut out using 2" oval die.  Adhere Whisper White sentiment to Rich Razzleberry scalloped oval and use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere to card near bottom of flower stems.

NOTES re sentiments and inside of card:

As you can see from my display board, I offered several different sentiments for the front of the card (pulled from various stamp sets.)

For this card, I matted the inside as well as the front of the card, with Always Artichoke card stock.  No sentiment was stamped on the inside; just a row of the flowers (from You're Inspiring stamp set) across the bottom.

Card 3

This is by far the easiest of the three cards -- it took one of my stamp-campers only 4 minutes to make!!!  I found this idea online and would really like to give credit to the creator, but I can't for the life of me find the paper showing where I found it!
