You've Got This

This is a thank you card I made for the demos at Front Range stampers back in June.  I don't think the photo shows this, but the flower shimmers a little (thanks to some liberally applied clear Wink of Stella).

Click on image for closer look.
Materials

Stamp Sets
* You've Got This (Flower and Background)
* One Big Meaning ("A Little Thanks")

Paper
* Whisper White Thick card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; about 2" x 1/2" for banner)
* Basic Black card stock (4-3/4" x 3-1/2")
* Flirty Flamingo card stock (4-5/8" x 3-3/8")
* Whisper White (regular) card stock (4-1/2" x 3")

Ink
* Basic Black Archival Ink
* Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pad
* Daffodil Delight Watercolor Pencil
* Old Olive Watercolor Pencil
* Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker

Accessories and Tools
* Aqua Painter (filled with water)
* Classic Label Punch
* Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive; Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions
(NOTE:  SNAIL Adhesive used throughout unless otherwise indicated.)

1.  Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Whisper White thick card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card base.

2. Adhere Basic Black card stock to card front; adhere Flirty Flamingo card stock over Basic Black.

3. Use Flirty Flamingo ink to stamp background image on 4-1/2" x 3" Whisper White card stock; stamp flower image with Basic Black ink.  Allow ink to dry completely, then use Daffodil Delight watercolor pencil to color center of flower and Old Olive to color stem and leaves.  Use an Aqua Painter with a damp (not drippy wet) brush to blend colors.  After colors have dried, apply clear Wink of Stella to flower petals to give them a slight shimmer.  Adhere to card over Flirty Flamingo card stock.

4. Stamp sentiment on scrap of Whisper White Thick card stock, and punch out with Classic Label punch.  Lightly outline label by running the brush end of Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker around edge of label.  (NOTE:  Using the side of the brush for this step prevents the brush from slipping and messing up the label.)  Adhere to card with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

This is another one of those cards that can basically be used for any occasion.  Very simple and quick to make (even with the minimal amount of drying time required).

Pushing the Fall Season Card

Ok . . . I'll admit it!  Summer is not my favorite time of the year.  I HATE being hot!  So for yesterday's stamp camp at the Rose Hill Grange, I decided it was time to push the fall season.

Click on any image for a closer look.

My card features the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies and the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack from the Stampin' Up! 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.  I was inspired by a similar card I found on Pinterest.  No name was listed for the creator, but thanks to Jennifer M. for pinning it!!!

Materials

Stamp Sets
* Various stamp sets for greetings

Paper
* Crushed Curry (or Old Olive) card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2")
* Whisper White card stock (5-1/4" x 4")
* Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack ("DSP") (5-1/8" x 2-1/8"; 5-1/4" x 3/8")
* Scraps for leaf dies: Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Old Olive

Ink
Basic Black Archival Ink Pad (or Tuxedo Black Memento Pad)

Accessories and Tools
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies
* Glitter Enamel Dots
* Adhesives:  SNAIL Adhesive, Tombow Liquid Glue

Instructions
(NOTE:  SNAIL Adhesive used throughout unless otherwise indicated.)

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card base.

2. Adhere Whisper White card stock to card front.

3. Adhere 5-1/8" x 2-1/8" DSP near top edge of Whisper White card stock; adhere 5-1/4" x 3/8" strip of DSP just under the first piece.

4. Stamp greeting on Whisper White card stock below DSP (the greeting pictured is from the Climbing Orchid stamp set).

5. Use Big Shot and Thinlits Dies to cut three leaves -- one each from Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive card stock.  Adhere them as shown to the front of the card, using a small dot of Tombow Liquid Glue in the area at the top of the stem.

6. Place Glitter Enamel Dots randomly to add a little sparkle to your card.

This is what the card looks like using Old Olive instead of Crushed Curry card stock and DSP.

Don't forget the inside!  I cut three of the smaller solid leaves from the Seasonal Layers set to add a little interest to the inside of the card.

Sentiment from Bunch of Blossoms stamp set

And . . . here's photo of my instruction board showing step-by-step directions.

An easy card with a little bling.  Perfect for fall!

Pocketful of Sunshine Card (June 17 Open House Make & Take)

What a fun card to make for the summer!! This one features the new Pocketful of Sunshine Bundle (2017-2018 Annual Catalog).

Click on image for closer look.
Materials

Stamp Set
* Pocketful of Sunshine

Paper
* Daffodil Delight card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; small amount for sun die)
* Dapper Denim card stock (5" x 3-3/4")
* Real Red card stock (about 3" x 1-1/4" for shades)
* Whisper White card stock (4-3/4" x 3-1/2"; 4-1/4" x 1" for banner)
* Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper ("DSP") (about 3-1/4" x 3-1/2" for pocket die)

Ink
* Basic Black Archival Ink Pad

Accessories and Tools
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Pocket Framelits Dies
* Triple Banner Punch
* Adhesives:  SNAIL Adhesive; Tear and Tape; Tombow Liquid Glue

Instructions
(Unless otherwise noted, SNAIL Adhesive used throughout)

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Daffodil Delight card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card.

2. Adhere Dapper Denim card stock to front of card.

3. Adhere Whisper White 5" x 3-3/4" card stock over Dapper Denim.

4. Use Big Shot and dies to cut pocket piece from DSP, shades from Real Red card stock, and sun from Daffodil Delight card stock.  Stamp stitch images on pocket and shades image on red shades shape.

5. Fold flaps on pocket to back on score lines; apply Tear and Tape to outside of flaps on sides and bottom of pocket, BUT DO NOT REMOVE THE BACKING TAPE YET.  Place on Whisper White card stock to position and glue the sun onto the Whisper White card stock so it's peeking over the top edge of the pocket.  Stamp sun ray images around top of sun shape.  (Note this is a small die that has only 5 rays of sun -- you will need to stamp it several times to complete rays around entire top edge of sun.)

6. Remove backing from Tear and Tape and adhere pocket to front of card just covering the bottom edge of sun shape.  Use a small amount of Tombow Liquid to adhere shades to inside of pocket.  (NOTE:  Do not adhere shades to card -- just to the inside of pocket.  This way you can easily slip a gift card or folded dollar bill behind them.)

7. Stamp sentiment in center of 4-1/4" x 1" Whisper White card stock.  Use Triple Banner Punch to trim ends.  Adhere to pocket as shown.

Easy, peasy, right?!  Fun card to use as a gift card holder for a special summer treat.

Fidget Spinner Card

Happy Tuesday Morning!!!  As promised in my most recent Stampin' Up! update, today is the day I get back to my blog and start catching up and cleaning up!

Today's card features a fidget spinner that actually spins!!!  I used this as my swap card for yesterday evening's Front Range Stampers demo meeting.  The challenge for that swap was "out-of-the-box punch/die shapes."  Ok, I didn't actually use the circles for anything other than circles, so it wasn't necessarily an "out-of-the-box" use of the shape, but it sure was fun to make!!!

Click on image for a closer look.
I spied this idea on Pinterest and thought it would make a great card for a young boy (I know my 6-year-old grandson will love it).  Listed below are the materials I used to make my card, as well as an explanation of how I made the paper for the fidget spinner.  Please visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-TB7DOvBSk&app=desktop for a tutorial showing you how to make the fidget spinner itself.

Materials
Stamp Sets
* Marquee Messages (“Awesome!”)

* Swirly Bird (background splatter)
* Confetti Celebrations (“Let’s Celebrate” inside)
Paper
* Pacific Point card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2”
* Basic Black card stock (5-1/8” x 3-7/8”; 4-5/8” x 1”; 4” x 1-1/2” for punch shapes)
* Daffodil Delight card stock (5” x 3-3/4”)
* Glossy White card stock (3” x 3”; 4-5/8” x 1”)
* Silver Foil card stock (1” x 3”)
Ink
* Daffodil Delight Refill Ink
* Lemon-Lime Twist Refill Ink
* Pacific Point Refill Ink
* Basic Black Archival Ink Pad
Accessories and Tools
* 1/2” Circle Punch
* 3/4” Circle Punch
* 1” Circle Punch
* 1-1/4” Circle Punch
* Triple Banner Punch
* Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive; Stampin’ Dimensionals; Glue Dots
Miscellaneous Items
* Rubbing Alcohol
* Cotton Balls
* 2 Pennies

* Fidget Spinner

Instructions to make fidget spinner paper
(NOTE:  I made a full sheet of paper, plus a few partial sheets because I needed to make several cards.  If you're making only one card, you will need only a 3" x 3" square of glossy white paper.)

To make this paper you will need from the above list of materials:
* Glossy White card stock
* Refill Ink
* Cotton Balls
* Rubbing Alcohol

1. Apply rubbing alcohol to cotton ball (enough to saturate the cotton ball, but not so much that it's dripping). Apply several drops of refill ink to the cotton ball.  Since I wanted the main color of my spinner to be Pacific Point, that's the color I started with, and I smeared it all over the shiny side of the card stock leaving open spaces to add other colors.

2. Repeat with Daffodil Delight, filling in most of the blank areas.

3. Repeat with Lemon-Lime Twist, dabbing randomly in empty spaces and over the other two colors.

That's it!!!  The ink dries very quickly and then you're ready to cut out your fidget spinner.  Not wanting to waste any of my hand-made designer paper, I punched a bunch of 1/2" circles out of the scraps to add to the inside of my card (see photo below).

NOTE 1:  You also can add more than one color to your cotton ball if you want to have more of a mottled look.  The only thing I would caution about that is that the ink can blend together and become muddy looking very quickly.  The reason I applied the three colors individually is because this allowed time for each color to dry before adding the next, and I wanted the three distinct colors to show up,

NOTE 2:  If you have some retired Stampin' Up! metallic refill ink, you also could repeat the process daubing some here and there to give the paper a little pizzazz. Just be aware that the metallic inks generally take a bit longer to dry.

Hope you enjoy making this card as much as I did.  It's just so much fun spinning that little guy once it's finished; no one who sees it can resist trying it!

I'll be back tomorrow morning with a fun little pocket card we made at my June 2017 New Catalog Open House.
