Friendship Card (Rose Hill Stamp Camp 5/20/2017)

Wanted to get this posted yesterday, but it just didn't happen ....  In any event, here is the card we made at my table at Rose Hill Stamp Camp this past Saturday.

These instructions are a bit long, but I was having a rough time explaining how to construct the card, so I included lots of photos.  (It's way easier to make than it is to explain . . . .)

Materials

Stamp Set
* Awesomely Artistic

Paper
* Mint Macaron card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; 2-1/8" square) (retiring 5/31/2017)
* Whisper White card stock (5-1/4" x 4"; 1-7/8" square)
* Island Indigo card stock (5-1/4" x 5")
* Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper ("DSP") (5" x 3-3/4") (retiring 5/31/2017)

Ink
* Island Indigo Classic Stampin' Pad
* Mint Macaron Classic Stampin' Pad (retiring 5/31/2017)

Accessories and Tools
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Layering Squares Framelits Dies
* Corner Rounder Punch (retiring 5/31/2017)
* Linen Thread
* Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive; Glue Dots; Stampin' Dimensionals (Optional: Tombow Liquid Glue; Tear and Tape)

Instructions

1. Score Mint Macaron 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card base.

2. Position 5-1/2" x 5" Island Indigo card stock on scoring board with 5" edge against the top of the board.  Score at 4-1/4" from left side (this will create a 3/4" flap to the right).  (See diagram below.)

3. Measure and mark 2-3/4" from top along left edge, as well as 2-3/4" from left side at both top and bottom.  Draw a line from the left edge mark to both the top mark and the bottom mark, and then cut with scissors or paper trimmer.  Use corner rounder punch to trim corner.  Discard the two triangular pieces.

4. Using the 2-3/8" square die and the Big Shot, cut out a square near the corner just created on the Island Indigo card stock (refer to photos for placement).

5. Fold flap away from score line created in Step 2 above.  Apply adhesive to inside of flap and adhere to back of right edge of Mint Macaron card base.  (See photos below.)

The basic construction of the card is now finished.  When you fold it, you will fold the Front of the card to the right, and then fold the flap over it.  (See photos below.)

Now to embellish a little . . . .

6. Referring to card, use Island Indigo ink to stamp splatter images on the flap.

7. Place a glue dot where you want the bow to go, and attach one end of the linen thread to the glue dot.  Wrap thread around the flap twice, and adhere again to glue dot; trim excess.  Make a loopy bow from linen thread and attach with a second glue dot to cover the ends.

8. Adhere 5-1/4" x 4" Whisper White card stock to front of card; adhere 5" x 3-3/4" DSP over the card stock.

9. Use 1-7/8" square die and Big Shot to cut the Whisper White square; use 2-1/8" square die to cut Mint Macaron square.  Use Island Indigo ink to stamp "Friend" and dragonfly images on Whisper White square.  Use Mint Macaron and splatter image to add background splatters to Whisper White.  Adhere Whisper White square to Mint Macaron square.  (NOTE:  I stamped the splatter once on scratch paper before stamping on card stock to get a softer color.  Kind of hard to see on the photo above, so here's a closeup.)

10.  Apply Stampin' Dimensionals to back of Mint Macaron card stock.  IMPORTANT:  Fold flap over front and center this piece inside square cutout; remove backing from Stampin' Dimensionals and adhere to front of card.

Don't forget about the inside!!!

11.  For the inside I again used Mint Macaron ink (stamped off once on scrap paper) to stamp the splatters images and the bar across the center.  I used Island Indigo to stamp a sentiment from Wetlands (also retiring May 31, 2017) across the bar.

Whew!  We're finally finished!!!!

Hope you enjoy this design.  I would truly like to give credit to the person who inspired this card, but I can't for the life of me find the photo again!  If and when I do, I'll give proper credit to that person.

If you've stuck with me to the end, thanks for reading this REALLY LONG post!

Fun Fold Card (5/13/2017 Stamp Camp North)

This is the card we made at my table at Stamp Camp North on May 13.  This was my "last chance card" for many of the items before they retire on May 31!!!

Click on any photo for a closer look.

Materials

Stamp Set
* One Big Meaning

Paper
* Tip Top Taupe card stock (5-1/2" x 4-1/4") (retiring May 31, 2017)
* Very Vanilla card stock (5-1/8" x 3-7/8")
* Falling in Love Designer Series Paper ("DSP") (12" x 5-1/4") (retiring May 31, 2017)

Ink
* Tip Top Taupe Classic Stampin' Pad (retiring May 31, 2017)

Accessories and Tools
* Bitty Butterfly punch (retiring May 31, 2017)
* Elegant Butterfly punch (retiring May 31, 2017)
* Classic Label punch
* Linen Thread (about 15")
* White Perfect Accents
* Stampin' Sponge (I cut mine into fourths for ease of use)
* Adhesives:  SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Tombow Multi Liquid Glue (optional)

Instructions
(SNAIL Adhesive used to assemble this card unless otherwise indicated.)

1. Score DSP at 4" and 8".  On BACK SIDE of DSP, make a small mark at top of 4" score line and at bottom of 8" score line.  Also make a mark on right edge of paper at 1-3/4" from bottom.  Use a pencil to draw a line from 4" mark at top of paper to 1-3/4" mark on right edge; draw a second line from 8" mark at bottom of paper to 1-3/4" mark on right edge.  Use scissors or a paper cutter to cut along both of these lines.  (See template below.)

2. The basic card construction is simply to fold the left pointed panel toward you and adhere it to the middle panel; then fold the first two panels together to form a card.  (See photos below.)  I did a lot of sponging around all the edges of all of my card stock and DSP pieces before assembling the card, but that's an optional step.

3. This piece now is glued to the 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" Tip Top Taupe card stock; the 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" Very Vanilla card stock goes inside the card.

4. The rest of this card is just embellishment.  Punch the butterflies from the leftover triangles of DSP and sponge color around the edges before adhering to the card with Tombow Liquid Glue or Glue Dots.  (TIP:  Before sponging the butterflies, fold them in half backwards.  This makes it easy to sponge color on the fold to create the center line.  This also makes it easier to sponge color in the area between the wings.)

5. The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock, punched out with the Classic Label punch, and then sponged around the edges.  The three-loop bow was attached with a Glue Dot.  Finally, the self-adhesive White Perfect Accents were added randomly here and there.

Below is my instruction board.  This shows all of the pieces parts and also the steps to assemble the card.

This was a great way to use up DSP!  The cards pictured below were made from the other designs in the Falling in Love DSP pack.

Hope you enjoy this card!  It's easy-peasy to make and there are so many possibilities for different seasons and occasions!

Until the next time . . . .

Bright, Cheery Card (Sassy Chic Stampers Stamp Camp 05/06/2017)

Hi, folks!  For my first May stamp camp I decided to make something bright and cheery . . . and I also wanted to use up some of my remaining Festive Birthday DSP.

Click on photo for closer look.
Materials

Stamps
  • Birthday Fiesta (flowers)
  • Watercolor Wings (sentiment)
Paper
  • Melon Mambo card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; 4-1/4" x 3"; 3" x 2")
  • Whisper White card stock (5-1/4" x 4"; 2-3/4" X 1-3/4")
  • Crushed Curry card stock (5-1/8" x 3-7/8")
  • Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper ("DSP") (4" x 2-3/4")
Ink
  • Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Memento Pad (Tuxedo Black)
  • Accessories and Tools
  • Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
  • Festive Embossing Folder
  • Linen Thread
  • Adhesives:  SNAIL Adhesive; Stampin' Dimensionals; Glue Dot

Instructions
(SNAIL Adhesive used throughout unless otherwise indicated.)
  1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Melon Mambo card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card base.
  2. Adhere Whisper White 5-1/4" x 4" card stock to card front.
  3. Use Festive Embossing Folder and Big Shot to add texture to Crushed Curry card stock.  Adhere to card front over Whisper White card stock.
  4. Adhere 4-1/4" x 3" Melon Mambo card stock over Crushed Curry card stock.
  5. Adhere 4" x 2-3/4" DSP over Melon Mambo card stock.
  6. Use Memento ink to stamp sentiment on 2-3/4" x 1-3/4" card stock as shown; use Melon Mambo ink to stamp flowers (stamp center flower first, then stamp one flower on each side, overlapping the small flowers).  Adhere to 3" x 2" Melon Mambo card stock.  Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere to front of card over DSP.
  7. Make a triple-loop bow from Linen Thread and attach over center flower with a Glue Dot.
This is a great sentiment that can be used for a Mother's Day, birthday, thank you, or just a friendship card.

Pictured below is the board I used to show how the card was assembled.  NOTE:  The bottom row shows how I finished the inside of the card.

Hope you enjoy this card!
