Wedding Card (May Class Project)

This is a wedding card I made for my nephew's wedding in October. Since June is wedding month, I thought May would be a good time to make it in a class. It uses the retiring Elegant Lines embossing folder.  See my October 26 post for materials and instructions.

Enjoy!

Swallowtail (May Class Project)

This is an all-occasion card featuring the Swallowtail stamp from the Spring catalog. This stamp will be continued in the 2013-2014 catalog, but the embossing folder used to create the background (Elegant Lines), is being retired as of May 30.

This card was inspird by a card posted by Chris Smith (see small photo to the right).  To see Chris's card, as well as her many other creations, visit her blog, from my inkpad to yours.

Materials:

Stamp Set:
* Swallowtail (Spring Catalog)

Paper:
* Midnight Muse card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; 3-1/4" x 3-1/4")
* Whisper White card stock (5" x 3-3/4")
* Naturals Composition Designer Series Paper (DSP) (3" x 3")

Ink:
* VersaMark
* Marina Mist Classic Stampin' Pad (retiring as of May 31, 2013)
* Island Indigo Classic Stampin' Pad
* Midnight Muse Classic Stampin' Pad

Accessories and Tools:
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Elegant Lines embossing folder (retiring as of May 31, 2013)
* Pewter Embossing Powder
* Heat Tool
* Stampin' Sponges
* Rhinestone Basic Jewels
* 5/8" Organza Ribbon
* Glue Dot
* SNAIL Adhesive
* Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions:

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from scoreline to create card.

2. Use Big Shot and embossing folder to emboss Whisper White card stock; adhere to front of card with SNAIL Adhesive.

3. Stamp image with VersaMark pad; cover image with Pewter Embossing Powder; tap off excess powder and heat with Heat Tool until the image is shiny.  Use Stampin' Sponges to dab all three inks randomly on DSP over embossed image; wipe excess ink from embossed wings with a tissue.  Adhere to 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" Midnight Muse card stock with SNAIL Adhesive.

4. To create a "faux knot" in ribbon:  Start to make a knot about about 1-1/2" from end of ribbon, but before you pull the knot tight, slip a 2" - 2-1/2" piece of ribbon into the knot, then pull it tight.  Adhere knot to front of card with a Glue Dot; wrap ribbon ends to back of card stock and adhere with SNAIL Adhesive.  Adhere card stock to front of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

5. Attach a self-adhesive Rhinestone to butterfly body as shown.

Yes, this elegant card really is as easy to make as it sounds!  Enjoy!

Dapper Dad Card (May Class Project)

This card uses the stamp set Dapper Dad and a bottle cap, both featured in the Stampin' Up! Spring catalog.  This card was inspired by a design by Lisa Curcio (see smaller photo to the right); you can see this and more of Lisa's designs at http://lisacurcio.blogspot.com/2013/04/watch-out-if-youre-avid-stamper-or.html

This is kind of a masculine card that could be used for a birthday, graduation, or Father's Day.

Materials:

Stamp Sets:
* Dapper Dad (Spring Catalog -- available through May 31)
* Friendly Phrases (Big Catalog -- available through June 4)

Paper:
* Crumb Cake card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; 2-3/4" x 2-1/4")
* Island Indigo card stock (3" x 2-1/2")
* Very Vanilla card stock (2-1/2" x 2")
* Fan Fair Designer Series Paper (DSP) (5-1/4" x 2")

Ink:
* Island Indigo Classic Stampin' Pad

Accessories and Tools:
* Stampin' Sponge
* Soda Pop Top - large size (Spring Catalog -- available until May 31)
* Big Shot with base and acrylic pads
* 1" Circle Punch
* Crystal Effects
* SNAIL Adhesive
* Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions:

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card stock at 4-1/4" and fold away from scoreline to create card.

2. Apply ink to edges of DSP with Stampin' Sponge; adhere to front of card about 1/8" from left edge.

3. Adhere Island Indigo card stock to front of card over DSP; adhere Crumb Cake card stock over Island Indigo.  Stamp watch image on Very Vanilla card stock; punch out center of watch with 1" circle punch and set aside.  Adhere remaining piece of card stock with watch band image to Crumb Cake card stock.

4. Use Big Shot and acrylic pads to "squish" Soda Pop Top.  (NOTE: Open out both tabs on your Big Shot base so you don't flatten the bottle cap too much.)  Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere back of Pop Top to front of card over watch.

5. Use a small amount of Crystal Effects to adhere watch face to center of Pop Top; hold in place until it's stable.  Add more Crystal Effects to cover entire watch face.  Set aside to try for 30 minutes or longer.

6. Stamp sentiment in lower right corner of card.

I totally love this card!  Couldn't think of a thing to do with those Soda Pop Tops until I saw it and then I was totally taken by them!  Hope you enjoy it too!

Happy Mother's Day Bloomin' Bouquet

Is this just stinkin' cute or what?!  I just made this cute little flower bouquet for my craft room from the Bloomin' Bouquet Project Kit currently available from Stampin' Up!  (See my Stampin' Up! current promotions page for details.)

Everything you need is included -- enough pre-punched pieces to make 13 flowers (they thought I was going to keep a dozen and give one away -- HAHAHAHAH!).  The only things pictured here that are not included in the kit are the jar, the pellets inside the jar, and the ribbon.  There's also no glue included -- I used my hot glue gun.

Fun fun fun!  Now on to other fun things -- I have TWO WHOLE WEEKS before another class!
