Masculine Birthday Card Using New Designer Series Paper (Sassy Stampers Stamp Camp, May 2022)

Howdy, Stampers!  Sharing with you today the card we made at my table at Sassy Stampers Stamp Camp this past Saturday.  It's a husband-approved masculine birthday card (no bling and no ribbon).

    5" x 3-3/4", embossed with Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder (top layer on front)
Inside
* White card stock:
    5-1/8" x 3-7/8"
* Pretty Prints DSP
    3-7/8" x 3/8" (strip across bottom)

Ink
* Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin' Pad, stamped off once ("HAPPY")
* Black Ink ("birthday" and inside sentiment)

Other Stuff
* Timber 3D embossing folder
* Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder
* Adhesives

Assembly

    1. Adhere 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" white card stock to card front.

    2. Use Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder to add texture to 5" x 3-3/4" DSP.  Adhere to card front over white card stock.

    3. Use Timber 3D embossing folder to add texture to 3-3/4" x 3/4" Blackberry Bliss card stock.  Adhere over DSP horizontally as shown above.

    4. Use Rich Razzleberry ink to stamp "HAPPY" on 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" white card stock.  Use black ink to stamp "birthday" over "HAPPY" as shown.  Adhere white card stock to 2-3/4" x 1-3/4" Blackberry Bliss card stock, and then adhere to 2-7/8" x 1-7/8" white card stock.  Adhere 3-layer sentiment over horizontal strip using Stampin' Dimensionals or foam tape.

Inside

    5. Stamp inside sentiment on 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" white card stock.  Adhere to inside of card.

    6. Adhere 4-7/8" x 3/8" strip of DSP near bottom of white card stock as shown.

NOTE:  The Pretty Prints DSP comes with 12 double-sided sheets of 12" x 12" paper with three different designs -- one each of Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral and Evening Evergreen.  Since the theme for this month's stamp camp cards was "masculine cards," I opted to not use the Calypso Coral and instead used the Sun Prints DSP, which has all the same designs, but in Starry Sky.  Stampers were able to select from among the four colors.

For these cards I made the following substitutions (from left to right):
    * Pretty Prints Bermuda Bay DSP, Shaded Spruce card stock, Mint Macaron ink
    * Sun Prints DSP, Starry Sky card stock, Starry Sky ink, stamped off once (see note below)
    * Bermuda Bay (listed above)
    * Pretty Prints Evening Evergreen DSP, Evening Evergreen card stock, Evening Evergreen ink, stamped off once

NOTE:  Stamping off means that after you apply ink to your stamp, you stamp the image on a piece of scrap paper first, and then stamp the image on your card stock, creating a lighter image of the same color.  Both Starry Sky and Evening Evergreen are very dark colors, and the black "birthday" stamp wouldn't have shown up very well if the "HAPPY" image had been stamped full force.  Shaded Spruce and Blackberry Bliss are also very dark colors, but as it happens, Mint Macaron is a lighter color that corresponds well with Shaded Spruce, and Rich Razzleberry is a lighter shade that corresponds well with Blackberry Bliss, so I didn't stamp off those colors.

I hope you enjoy this manly, no bling/no ribbon card.  Of course, you also could bling it up to create a more feminine look.

Happy Stamping!

Cathy  ;D
