Fortune Cookie Card (Stamp Camp North 01/13/2018)

This is the card we made at my table at Stamp Camp North on January 13.  What a fun set (from the 2018 Occasions catalog)!

Materials

Stamp Set
* Fortunate to Know You (2018 Occasions)

Paper
* Basic Black card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2")
* Real Red card stock (5-1/4" x 4")
* Whisper White card stock (4-3/4" x 3-1/2"; scraps for cookie and fortune)

Ink
* Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad

Accessories and Tools
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Embossing Folder
* Watercolor Pencils
* Blender Pen
* Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive; Stampin' Dimensionals; Liquid Glue or Glue Dot

Miscellaneous Items
* Post-it Notes

Instructions
NOTE:  SNAIL Adhesive used to assemble card unless otherwise noted.

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from card stock to create card base.

2. Use Big Shot and Embossing Folder to add leaves texture to Real Red card stock.  Adhere to front of card.

3. Stamp takeout box image on 4-3/4" x 3-1/2" Whisper White card stock and also on front of a Post-it Note.  Cut image out of Post-it Note and adhere to front of card over stamped image.  Stamp chop sticks over Post-it Note as shown.  Remove Post-it Note and you will see that chop sticks appear to be lying behind the takeout box.

This technique using the Post-it Note is called "masking."

4. Stamp fortune cookie near lower right corner of card stock and on front of a Post-it Note.  Cut image image out of Post-it Note and adhere to front of card over stamped image.  Stamp another fortune cookie over Post-it Note, slightly higher and to the right.  Remove Post-it Note and you will see that the second cookie appears to be behind the first one.  Stamp one more fortune cookie and a fortune on scrap of Whisper White card stock; use scissors to cut out images.

5. Use Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil to color in shaded areas on takeout box; use Real Red Watercolor Pencil to color heart on box; use Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso Watercolor Pencils to color in fortune cookies.  Use Blender Pen to blend and smooth colors.

On my sample I also used the Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil to sketch in a line defining the background, but we didn't do this in class.  The card on the board below shows what it looks like without the line.

6. Adhere stamped Whisper White card stock to front of card; use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the fortune cookie cut out of Whisper White card stock over first two cookies.  Tuck left edge of fortune under fortune cookie and adhere with Liquid Glue or Glue Dot.

That's it!

Hope you enjoy this card!

2018 Occasions Swap Cards

It's always great fun to get a new Stampin' Up! catalog.  Demonstrators always want to buy everything and start playing with their new toys!  As you may guess, however, it's impractical and sometimes impossible for us to purchase every stamp set in every catalog.  So we do swaps!  A group of demonstrators select different stamp sets from the new catalogs and make a card to swap with the other demos in the group so we all have lots of cards to share with our friends and customers.

What you see below are the cards made by some of my talented demonstrator friends with stamp sets featured in the new Occasions catalog.  Below each photo you will see the name of the demo who created the card, and the stamp sets used.  Hope you enjoy these great cards!

Fancy Fold Card (12/30/2017 Rose Hill Stamp Camp)

OH MY GOSH!!!!  I can't believe it's been so long since I posted any projects!  Guess I wore myself out with the Christmas Countdown . . . ?  Plus, it's been a whirlwind January -- lots of activities!  Now that I have a little breathing space I'll be sharing lots of photos over the next several days.

In any event, today I'm sharing with you the card we made at my table at Rose Hill Stamp Camp on December 30.  It's a fun fold card and uses one of the FREE stamp sets from the 2018 Sale-a-Bration Catalog.  (Click HERE for details on how to get this free set.)

Click on photo for closer look.

Inside
Materials

Stamp Set
* Heartfelt Blooms (2018 Sale-a-Bration Catalog)

Paper
* Basic Black card stock (8-1/2" x 4-1/4"; 8" x 3")
* Whisper White card stock (5-1/4" x 4"; 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" - 2 pieces; about 2-1/2" x 1-3/4" for label)
* Petal Passion Designer Series Paper ("DSP") (4" x 2-3/4")

Ink
* Basic Gray Archival Stampin' Pad
* Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad
* Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker

Accessories and Tools
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Embossing Folder
* Faceted Gems
* Pretty Label Punch
* Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive; Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions
(NOTE:  For visual step-by-step directions, see photo below.)

1. Score 8-1/2" x 4-1/4" Basic Black card stock at 5-1/2"; fold away from score line to create card base.

2. Use Big Shot and Embossing Folder to add texture to 5-1/4" x 4" Whisper White card stock; adhere to inside of card.  (NOTE: Because of the design of this folder, there really is no top or bottom, so it will be perfect no matter which way you insert it into the card.)

3. With smaller flap to the right, adhere 4" x 2-3/4" DSP to OUTSIDE of flap.

4. Score 8" x 3" Basic Black card stock at 4"; fold away from score line to create smaller card.

5. Use Basic Gray ink to stamp flower image on one piece of 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" Whisper White card stock; adhere to front of 4" x 3" card.  Reink and stamp image just in the lower corner of the second piece of 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" Whisper White card stock; adhere to inside of card.

6. Adhere smaller card over textured Whisper White card stock near upper left-hand corner as shown.

7. With smaller card open, fold flap of larger card to the left; then close smaller card over the flap.

8. Stamp sentiment on scrap of Whisper White card stock; punch out with Pretty Label punch.  Use brush end of Basic Black marker to trace around edge of label (this will create a fine line around the edge to define the label against the lighter background).  Adhere Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to back of upper left-hand corner of label and adhere label to lower corner of smaller card.  (Yes, it's attached to the smaller card -- NOT the right-side flap -- so it moves with the front flap when you open and close the card.)

9. Don't forget the BLING!!!  Adhere self-adhesive Faceted Gem to center of large daisy on image to add the just right amount of glitz to this card.

Hope you enjoyed this fun card!  It's a little out-of-the-ordinary and very simple to make!

All-Occasion Card (Sassy Chic Stamp Camp 1-6-2018)

Today's card is one I pulled together on short notice for a large stamp camp this past Saturday.  I didn't have enough of one pattern of Designer Series Paper in my stash -- and not enough time to order more -- so the stampers had seven different pattern options.  And since the paper is double-sided, there were actually many different designs floating around camp that day!

Thanks to Alison Barclay, a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in Australia, for this design.  To view Alison's original card, click HERE.

Materials
(NOTE:  Materials list and instructions are for general card layout; see photos below for details on each individual card.)

Stamp Sets
* Various Stamps for Sentiment (see details below)

Paper
* Card base:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card stock
* Layer 1:  5-1/4" x 4" card stock
* Layer 2:  5-1/8" x 3-7/8" Designer Series Paper ("DSP)
* Banner 1:  5" x 1" DSP
* Banner 2:  4" x 7/8" DSP
* Label: Approximately 2-1/2" x 1-3/4" Whisper White THICK card stock

Ink
* Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad

Accessories and Tools
* Triple Banner Punch
* Everyday Label Punch (2018 Occasions Catalog)
* Baker's Twine, Linen Thread or Ribbon
* Rhinestones Basic Jewels or other bling of your choice
* Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive; Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions
SNAIL Adhesive used throughout unless otherwise indicated.

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card base.

2. Adhere 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" DSP to 5-1/4" x 4" card stock.

3. Use Triple Banner Punch to trim one end of each of the two strips of DSP.  Adhere 1" banner to card at right edge of DSP as shown; adhere 7/8" strip near bottom of larger banner, overlapping slightly.

4. Wrap ribbon or twine around card stock and tie in a bow in front.  (NOTE:  For Baker's Twine and Linen Thread, I wrapped three times before tying bow; for ribbon I wrapped just once because wrapping it multiple times felt too bulky to me.)

5.  Adhere card stock to front of card.

6. Stamp sentiment on Whisper White THICK card stock; punch out with Everyday Label Punch.

5. Add Rhinestone Basic Jewels or other bling randomly to front of card.

That's all there is to this card!  Simple and quick.

Instructions
(SNAIL Adhesive used throughout unless otherwise indicated.)

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Early Espresso card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card base.

2. In center of Whisper White card stock, stamp the following colors/images as shown in photo:

  • Smoky Slate (mountains)
  • Pear Pizzazz (foothills at base of mountains)
  • Pool Party (large body of water)
  • Tranquil Tide (darker shading over water to the left)
  • Early Espresso (trees in foreground)
  • Pear Pizzazz (sprinkles of dots around base of trees)

Adhere to front of card.

3. Use Big Shot and largest die in Layering Ovals set to cut oval out of center of Tranquil Tide card stock.  Adhere over Whisper White card stock.

4. Punch 1-3/8" Circle from Early Espresso card stock.  Use Basic Black ink to stamp sentiment on scrap of Whisper White card stock; adhere to Early Espresso circle with liquid glue.  Adhere circle in lower right-hand corner of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

5. Use Big Shot and Pretty Pines dies to cut two pine boughs from Early Espresso card stock.  Adhere to card in upper left-hand corner with tiny dots of Liquid Glue.  (You also could use Fine Tip Glue.)

6. Holding two pieces of linen thread together, make a 2" bow; use a Glue Dot to adhere to card over pine boughs.

7. Cut one pine cone from Soft Suede card stock.  Use Stampin' Sponge to apply Early Espresso ink around edges; use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere to card over pine boughs.

And that's it!  This card makes me want to dig out my rod and reel and head for the mountains.  Oh wait!!!  They're covered in snow!!!  Guess I'll have to wait a few months . . . sigh . . . .

Hope you enjoyed this card.
