Get Well Card w/Tissue Box (June Class Project)

Click on images for closer view

I spied this card online and just couldn't resist making it.  It's actually inspired by two different cards -- the first (the outside of the card) was a card by Loll Thompson.  Her design had four flowers on an all-white background and was arranged differently, but I loved the idea of the cute, cheery little flowers for a get well card!  You can view Loll's card and many more of her cute designs at http://www.stampingwithloll.com/2013/03/spring-is-here.html.

The second part of the card -- the surprise mini tissue box -- was so cute I just knew we had to make this in class.  For instructions how to assemble this box, visit Brandy Cox's site at http://brandyscards.com/2013/01/stampin-up-field-flowers-stamp-set-2/.

Materials:

Stamp Sets:
* Delightful Dozen
* Hello Doily

Paper:
* Whisper White card stock (8-1/2” x 5-1/2”; 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” (3 pieces))
* Daffodil Delight card stock (5-1/8” x 3-7/8”)
* Polka Dot Parade DSP (approx. 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” of three contrasting colors)
* Marina Mist card stock (5” x 3”, scored at 1”, 2-1/2”, and 3-1/2”)

Ink:
* Jet Black StazOn Pad
* Marina Mist Classic Stampin’ Pad
* Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker

Accessories and Tools:
* Whisper White ¼” Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Blossom Party Originals Die
* Sweet Buttons Embosslits Die
* Large Oval Punch
* Adhesives:  Glue Dots, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Multi-purpose Liquid Glue OR Sticky Strip

Miscellaneous:
* One facial tissue, cut in fourths

Instructions:

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Whisper White card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from scoreline to create card.

2. Stamp "get well soon" with StazOn ink near bottom right corner of Daffodil Delight card stock.  Tie knot in ribbon and wrap around card stock just above sentiment; secure ribbon on back of card stock with Glue Dots at each end.

3. Flower Squares (make 3):  Use Stampin' Write Marker to draw dashed lines near edges of Whisper White 1-1/2" squares to resemble stitching.  Use SNAIL Adhesive to adhere to Daffodil Delight card stock above ribbon.  Cut flowers from three different contrasting colors of DSP with Big Shot and Blossom Party die; fold petals slightly forward and adhere to centers of 1-1/2" squares with Glue Dots.  Cut buttons from Daffodil Delight card stock with Big Shot and Embosslits die; adhere to centers of flower with Stampin' Dimensionals.

4. Adhere Daffodil Delight card stock to front of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Now . . . here comes the FUN part!

5. Score 5" x 3" Marina Mist card stock at 1", 2-1/2", and 3-1/2".  Fold away score lines to resemble box.  Fold 1" flap up behind 1-1/2" section and punch an oval near center of 1-1/2" section.  Flatten piece back out and stamp Hello Doily image with Marina Mist ink.

6. Apply Liquid Glue or Sticky Strip to stamped side of 1-1/2" end flap.  Adhere to bottom of card with the edge of the card stock right up against the fold line of the card (note:  at this point, the card stock will be hanging kind of upside down on the inside of the card).  Fold up at center scoreline, and apply Liquid Glue or Sticky Strip to 1" flap near fold line and on edges (this is the flap with the partial oval cut out).  Now carefully close the card to adhere the flap to the inside of the front of card.  When you open the card back up, a tissue box will magically appear!  Now take 1/4 of a facial tissue and put a Stampin' Dimensional in the center; stuff the center of the tissue through the hole on the top of the box and adhere to the bottom of the box.  Visit Brandy Cox's blog (see link above) to see a video showing how this is done.

Now I find myself hoping my friends will catch colds just so I can send them this sweet little card!  Enjoy!

Just for You! (June Class Project)

Click on images for a closer look.

These are two different versions of the same card, based on a design by Darlene McCallum (http://dreamingaboutrubberstamps.com).  The card features one of the new In-Colors from the 2013-2014 Catalog, plus a new punch and coordinating stamp set, as well as the new Soho Subway Designer Series Paper.

Materials:

Stamp Set:
* NEW* Label Love

Paper:
* Very Vanilla card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2; about 4" x 2" for punch -- need 2)
* Early Espresso card stock (5-1/8" x 3-7/8"; 5" x 1-3/4"; about 4" x 2" for punch -- need 2)
* NEW* Crisp Cantaloupe card stock (5" x 3-3/4")
* NEW* Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (DSP) (5" x 1-5/8")

Ink:
* NEW* Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Stampin' Pad
* Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad

Accessories and Tools:
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine (Optional)
* Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (Optional)
* NEW* Artisan Label
* Stampin' Sponge
* Paper Snips
* Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive; Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions:
(Use SNAIL Adhesive unless otherwise noted.)

1. Score Very Vanilla card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from score line to create card.

2. Stamp two label images on Very Vanilla card stock -- one in Crisp Cantaloupe and one in Early Espresso.  Cut out images with Artisan Label punch.  Cut center of image ("just for you" and scallop borders above and below) from Early Espresso image and adhere it over the center of the Crisp Cantaloupe image.

3. (Optional) emboss Crisp Cantaloupe card stock with Big Shot and embossing folder.

4.  Use Stampin' Sponge to apply Early Espresso ink around edges of card, Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock, DSP, and label.

5.  Adhere 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" Early Espresso card stock to front of card; adhere Crisp Cantaloupe card stock over Early Espresso; adhere 5" x 1-3/4" Early Espresso card stock over Crisp Cantaloupe; adhere DSP over Early Espresso.

6. Punch two Artisan Labels from Early Espresso card stock.  Cut one in half from top to bottom; cut the second in half from left to right.  Adhere top and bottom pieces of label to back of stamped label so that about 1/16" peeks out at the top and the bottom; adhere right and left pieces of label to back of label so that about 1/16" peeks out on each side.  This creates a mat for the label.  Adhere label to front of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

That's it!  A simple and elegant card for any occasion.

You Are My Sunshine! (June Class Project)

This bright and cherry card features a single stamp that will be available only through the end of July. With summer just around the corner, this seemed like the perfect time to make a sunshine card!

* Sunshine (Single Stamp, Assortment 4 - 132671, $5.95, available through July 31, 2013)

Paper:
* Basic Black card stock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; 2-1/2" x 2-1/4")
* Whisper White card stock (5-1/8" x 3-7/8"; 2-3/4" x 2-1/2")
* So Saffron card stock (5" x 3-3/4"; 2-5/8" x 2-3/8")

Ink:
* VersaMark Pad
* Whisper White CRAFT Stampin' Pad

Accessories and Tools:
* Heat Tool
* Clear Embossing Powder
* White Embossing Powder
* Brayer
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine (Optional)
* Sweet Buttons Embosslits (Optional)
* White Baker's Twine
* Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive; Stampin' Dimensionals; Crystal Effects

Instructions:
(Unless otherwise noted, SNAIL Adhesive used throughout)

1. Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Basic Black cardstock at 4-1/4"; fold away from scoreline to create card.

2. Adhere 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" Whisper White card stock to front of card.

3. Create a template to make the sunburst (see instructions below).  Use removable tape to secure template over So Saffron card stock.  Use Brayer to apply VersaMark ink to card stock.  Remove template, cover with Clear Embossing Powder, tap off excess powder and heat with Heat Tool.  This will creat the shiny rays shooting out from the center of the card.  Adhere So Saffron card stock to card over Whisper White.

4. Stamp "You Are My Sunshine" image on 2-1/2" x 2-1/4" Basic Black card stock with Whisper White CRAFT Ink.  Cover with White Embossing Powder, tap off excess powder and heat with Heat Tool.  Adhere Basic Black card stock to 2-5/8" x 2-3/8" So Saffron card stock; adhere So Saffron to 2-3/4" x 2-1/2" Whisper White card stock.  Adhere this three-layer piece to front of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

(HINT:  If you have stray bits of White Embossing Powder on your black card stock after embossing, you can dot them out with a black Sharpie pen.)

5. Optional: Cut button from scrap of So Saffron card stock with Big Shot and Sweet Buttons Embosslit.  Adhere to front of card over the "O" in "YOU"; cover the button with Crystal Effects to make it shiny.  After it dries, add a tiny bow made from Baker's Twine.

(NOTE:  If you don't have a Big Shot, you can omit the button entirely, or you can substitute one of the cute new buttons featured in the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalog.)

TEMPLATE INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cut an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of scrap paper into 4 pieces (each will be 5-1/5" x 4-1/4").

2. Draw an "X" from corner to corner.

3. Mark the outer edge of paper about 1/3 across top, bottom, and sides.

4. Draw smaller "X"es from the marks as shown below.

5. Draw a circle in the center.  (Note:  This doesn't have to be a perfect circle -- the only purpose is to give you a "stopping point" so when you cut out the template you don't cut all the way to the center.)

6. Mark every other section to be cut.  (Yes, this is important -- I've been known to cut the wrong area out and it really messes up the design!)
7. Cut out all of the areas marked to cut.  And there you have your template!
Fun, huh!?  Happy Sunshiny Summer!!!!

Hope you have fun with this card!  It was great fun for me to make!

Happy Fathers Day!!!

Fathers Day is almost here, so I'm in the process of stocking up my stash for sale at my office.  (I may previously have mentioned that the convenience store in my building was recently closed, so I've opened up a little mini-card shop at my desk.)

This is the first of several Fathers Day designs I'll be making this week.  Hope you enjoy it.  This card was inspired by a posting on www.SplitCoastStampers.com by Sara Hoogendoorn (http://simplysarastampin.blogspot.com/2013/04/mojo-mondays-open-sea.html).

* Bermuda Bay card stock (5-1/8" x 3-7/8"; 1-3/8" square x 3; 4-1/4" x 1")

3. Use Big Shot and embossing folder to texture 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" Bermuda Bay card stock.

4. Use Stampin' Sponge to apply Early Espresso ink to edges of all Whisper White and Bermuda Bay card stock.

5. Use SNAIL Adhesive to adhere Whisper White 5-5/16" x 4-1/6" to card front; adhere textured Bermuda Bay card stock over Whisper White.

7.  Adhere Early Espresso card stock to front of card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

8.  Optional:  I sponged Early Espresso around edges of a 5-1/5" x 4" piece of cardstock and adhereed to the inside of the card.  I then made a fourth square similar to the three on the front of the card using the compass image and placed it near the lower right hand corner on the inside of the card.

Enjoy!
