Sweet Little Celebration Cake

These cute little cakes are so simple to make!  I made a ton of them as door prizes for my anniversary celebration in July.

I got this idea from Jill Stamping with Ink.  Below is a photo of the materials used; for additional photos, visit http://jillstampingwithink.typepad.com/

I actually didn't use exactly the same materials as Jill used for her creation; instead of the embellishments on the top, I used Designer Series Paper and added dots of Dazzling Details.  Here's my version of this project:

Materials

Paper
* Small amount of any Designer Series Paper or card stock for top and bottom; Designer Series Paper works best for the strip that covers the sides.

Accessories
* Any round punch or die cut that is approximately 2" in diameter
* Small round punch (I used the round punch from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, but you also could use the 1/2" Circle Punch)
* Adhesives:  Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals; Sticky Strip
* Embellishments: I used Dazzling Details, but you could also punch small flowers and add brads as shown above and on Jill's site.

Other
* Small, battery-powered tea light
* Small scissors or utility knife

Instructions

1. Cut a strip of DSP 7/8" x 6".  Adhere Sticky Strip to back of strip and wrap around tea light.

2. Punch one 2" scalloped circle or round flower shape from Designer Series Paper (DSP) or card stock.  Punch out a small circle near one side as shown above.  Adhere to bottom of tea light with  double thickness of  Stampin' Dimensionals, with opening over the on-off switch.

3. Punch one 2" scalloped circle from scrap paper.  Fold in half, and then fold in half the opposite direction to find the center.  Cut a small hole in center to create a template.

4. Punch another scallop circle from DSP or card stock.  Use the template created in Step 3 above to mark the center, and then cut an "X" (about 1/2" in diameter) in the center.  Adhere Glue Dots to back of circle and slide down over "flame" on tea light.  Fold scallops down over the edges of the tea light.

5.  Embellish however you like!  (NOTE: If you're adding brads as shown in Jill's sample, you'll want to add these BEFORE you add the Glue Dots and adhere to top.)

This is a great little inexpensive favor to hand out at birthday parties, showers, or just to give as a little gift to your friends on their special days.  Enjoy!!!

* Two-Way Glue Pen (100426) $3.50

Instructions:

1.   Score 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card stock at 4-1/4"; fold away from scoreline to create card.

2.  Adhere 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" Whisper White card stock to front of card.

3.  Use Embossing Folder and Big Shot to add vertical stripes to Sahara Sand card stock.

4.  Use Delicate Doilies Sizzlits Die and Big Shot to cut one large doily from Whisper White and one medium doily from Primrose Petals card stock.  Adhere Whisper White doily to front of card with Glue Dots or Two-Way Glue Pen; adhere Primrose Petals doilies over Whisper White doily with Stampin' Dimensionals.

5.  Use Primrose Petals ink to stamp round butterfly image (Serene Silhouettes) on scrap of Whisper White card stock; cut out with 1-3/4" Circle Punch.  Adhere to center of Primrose Petals doily with SNAIL Adhesive.

6.  Make a small bow with Primrose Petal ribbon; adhere below Primrose Petals doily with Glue Dots.

7.  Use Primrose Petals ink to stamp sentiment on scrap of Whisper White card stock; cut out with Jewelry Tag Punch; attach Glue Dot to back and tuck under center of bow.

Fun and easy, huh?!  Enjoy!
