Coming Up Next - Sassy Chic Stamp Camp (Longmont)

Sassy Chic Stamp Camp is coming up this Saturday (November 6) in Longmont. See the right column of this page under "Upcoming Stampin' Events" for details and a registration form.

At my table we'll be making this sweet little snowman card*! This card will also be one of the featured projects at the monthly workshops at my house on November 13. Watch for photos of the other projects to be posted soon.

I hope to see you at one of my upcoming Stampin' Events!

Stamp Camp West 10/23/10

This is the card we made at Stamp Camp West on 10/23/10. The technique is Iris Folding -- same as the Pumpkin card we made at the September workshops. Following is the materials list.

Iris Folded Ornament Card

Materials:* Stamp Set: Many Merry Messages (greeting on inside of card)

* Card Stock: Top card - Night of Navy (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; bottom card - Cherry Cobbler (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"); both cards - Glossy White (5" x 3-3/4" + scrap for center of iris folded ornament), Basic Gray (5-1/4" x 4"); Whisper White (5-1/4" x 4" for inside)
* Other Paper: Vellum, Gold and Silver Waffle Paper# cut into 1" wide strips
* Ink: Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad; Basic Gray Stampin' Write Marker
* Accessories: Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Northern Flurry Embossing Folder#, Silver Tinsel Trim# (8"), Ornament Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch; Stampin' Sponge, Sticky Strip, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals

# = Holiday Mini Catalog (9/1/2010 - 1/3/2011)

Instructions:

1. Score base card stock (Night of Navy or Cherry Cobbler) at 4-1/4"; fold away from scoreline to create card. Adhere Basic Gray cardstock to card front.
2. Stamp greeting on Whisper White card stock and adhere to inside of card.
3. Place Glossy White card stock in embossing folder and roll through Big Shot; punch Ornament from embossed portion; repeat embossing with scrap of Glossy White card stock, and punch out 6-point star flower from Boho Blossoms.
4. Optional step (this card also looks nice in basic white without the distressing): Use Stampin' Sponge to sponge Basic Gray ink around edges of Glossy White card stock and both punched shapes; also run ink across embossed images.
5. Fold 1" strips of vellum and waffle paper in half lengthwise so you'll have 1/2" wide folded strips. Use the template pictured below as a guide for placing vellum and waffle paper on back of Glossy White card stock (important note: you may need to shrink the size a bit so it matches the size of the ornament punch). See links below to find instructions and templates for iris folding.

6. When iris folding is complete, place Sticky Strip around outside edge on back of Glossy White card stock; remove red backing and adhere about 1/2" of tinsel to back on one side, adhere about 1/2" of other end of tinsel at opposite side; adhere Glossy White card stock to Basic Gray card stock on front of card.
7. "Scrunch" tinsel to create loops and swirls. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere Ornament over tinsel and over the upper right side of the iris folded ornament; adhere "star" flower to center of iris folded ornament. Use Stampin' Write marker to draw strings from top of card to ornaments.

Creepy Crawly Spider Instructions

Here's the creepy crawly spider I made for workshop guests this past Saturday. It's an 8-legged version of the 6-legged one Lisa Gray made for pre-registration gifts at the September Stamp Camp West (see photo of that spider on my 9/25/10 post). (Thanks for the idea, Lisa!!!)

Here is a visual layout of the instructions (click on the image for a larger view):

I'm pretty sure you can't read the small print, so here's what it says:

Spooky Spider Magnet

2 - Scallop Circles - Basic Black
2 - 1/2" Circles - Daffodil Delight
2 - 1/4" Circles (from Owl Punch) - Basic Black
1 - 1/4" Circle (from Owl Punch) - Perfect Plum
8 - Large Photo Corner - Basic Black
8 - Small Photo Corner - Pear Pizzazz
1 - 1-1/4" Circle - Magnet Sheet
1 - 1" Square (cut with scissors) - Sticky Sheet

White highlights added with Signo Gel Pen

Attach magnet to Peppermint Patty with Glue Dots or double-stick tape; attach second Basic Black Scallop Circle to back of Peppermint Patty.

Hope you have fun with this!

Instructions for Halloween Treat Bags (see photo below)

Here is a link to an online tutorial that shows you how to make the Frankenstein treat bags we made in Saturday's workshops.

http://dreamcreateandshare.blogspot.com/2009/09/and-heres-frankie.html

In this tutorial, the creator shows you how to make the box the Frankie is mounted on (I used a die cut to make the box).

The Mummy and Dracula boxes are basically made the same way. Below are the materials lists and instructions.

Basic materials for all:

Card Stock:
* 12" x 6"; 3" x 2-1/8" (Old Olive for Frankie; Black for Dracula; White for Mummy)

Accessories:
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Fancy Favor XL Die
* Jumbo Brads (2)
* Crop-a-Dile
* Sticky Strip

Non-Stampin' Up! Materials:
* Craft or Beading Wire (20 or 22 gauge)
* Light Weight Wire Cutters
* Pencil

Directions for Box:
1. Assemble box using Sticky Strip on tab and bottom flap to hold it together; use Sticky Strip to adhere 3" x 2-1/8" matching card stock to inside bottom of box (this will help stabilize and strengthen the box).
2. Attach Jumbo Brad about 1/2" below top on each side of box.
3. Cut a piece of wire about 32" long; wrap around pencil, leaving about 1-1/2" at each end for wrapping. Thread ends of wire through brads and twist back around handle several times to secure. "Scrunch" wire to make the coils look uneven and kind of creepy.
4. Attach two pieces of Sticky Strip to both front and back of bag. The backing will be removed later to adhere faces and backs to bags.

Frankenstein:

Card Stock:
* Old Olive Card Stock (12" x 6"; 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" (2); 3" x 2-1/8"; scraps for punches)
* Basic Black Card Stock (2" x 4-1/4" (2); scraps for punches)

Ink:
* Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad
* Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker

Accessories:
* White Signo Gel Pen
* Stampin' Sponges
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Top Notes Die
* Circles #2 Die (1" circle)
* Round Tab Punch
* 3/4" Circle Punch
* SNAIL Adhesive
* Sticky Strip
* Stampin' Dimensionals (used to attach eyelids over eyes)

Non-Stampin' Up! Materials:
* Martha Stewart "Grass" Edge Punch

Follow instructions on tutorial to make Frankie's face and back of head; adhere to bag with Sticky Strip.

Dracula:

Card Stock:
* Basic Black Card Stock (12" x 6"; 5-1/2" x 4-1/4"; 2.5" x 4-1/4"; 3" x 2-1/8"; scraps for punches)
* Perfect Plum Card Stock (5-1/2" x 4-1/4"; scraps for punches)

Ink:
* Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad
* Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad
* Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker

Accessories:
* White Signo Gel Pen
* Stampin' Sponges
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Top Notes Die
* Circles #2 Die (1" circle)
* Round Tab Punch
* 3/4" Circle Punch
* 1-3/8" Circle Punch
* Large Star Punch
* SNAIL Adhesive
* Sticky Strip
* Stampin' Dimensionals (used to attach eyelids over eyes)

Follow instructions on tutorial above to make Frankie's face, with the following exceptions:
1. Use Perfect Plum cardstock for face; black for back of box.
2. Use 1-3/8" Circle Punch to cut out flat side of hair to create the areas where the eyes are placed.
3. Fangs are made from two points of the Star Punch. Drag points across Real Red Stampin' Pad before attaching to face.

Mummy:

Card Stock:
* Whisper White Card Stock (12" x 6"; 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" (2); 3" x 2-1/8")
* Whisper White Textured Card Stock (12" x 6" torn into uneven strips about 3/4" to 1" wide)

Ink:
* Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad

Accessories:
* Stampin' Sponges
* Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
* Top Notes Die
* Sticky Strip

Non-Stampin' Up! Materials:
* 23 mm Google Eyes

1. Cut two Top Notes shapes from Whisper White card stock. Use Stampin' Sponge and Basic Gray Stampin' Pad to sponge color around edges; sponge edges of all torn strips of textured card stock.
2. Place Google Eyes on Top Notes shape as shown in sample below.
3. Use Sticky Strip to adhere strips, one at a time, to front and back pieces. Remove backing from Sticky Strip on box and adhere face and back of head to box.

Hopefully, these instructions aren't too cryptic and you'll be able to make tons of these cute Halloween treat boxes!

Happy Haunting!
