New Blog Added

Howdy! Just wanted to let you know that I've added a new blog for my non-Stampin' Up! crafts projects. The new site is http://cathyscraftstoo.blogspot.com. You can link to it here, or click on the link at the bottom of the right-hand column of this blog.

Cathy's Crafts Too was created so I could devote this page to just Stampin' Up! and paper crafts, and then people who aren't interested in crochet, sewing, and other crafts won't have to wade through that stuff to view the things they ARE interested in (cards, boxes, calendars, journals, bookmarks, etc.).

I hope you enjoy the new page . . . I currently have only a couple of items posted, but will add new photos as I start gearing up for my fall and winter craft sales.

Thanks for looking!

Projects from my Upline . . . .

I went to my upline's monthly meeting last night for the first time in quite a while. Michelle lives about 45 minutes away in Longmont, and her meetings don't begin until 7 p.m. on Tuesday nights . . . I get up at 5 a.m. to go to work, so usually it doesn't work out for me. But today I'm taking a vacation day to help my chubby hubby celebrate his birthday, so I figured I could sleep in if I was out too late . . . . It was totally worth it! Wait 'til you see these wonderful creations!

Just a Little Note

This card is built on a Crumb Cake card stock base. The background was created by adhering pieces of Designer Series Paper in varying shapes to the front of the card (3 of the pieces are Greenhouse Gala DSP; the shape in the lower left-hand corner is Pumpkin Pie card stock stamped with Pumpkin Pie ink.) The Stamp Set used is Apple Blossoms (one of the current Level 2 Hostess Sets); the inks used are Daffodil Delight, Real Red, and Pear Pizzazz; the ribbon is Real Red 5/8" Satin; the card stock for the flower piece is Whisper White and Daffodil Delight. Other accessories used: Scallop Edge Border punch; Pearl self-adhesive jewels, and Stampin' Dimensionals (used on the piece with the flower stamped on it and each of the flower layers). Fun and funky!!!!

Elegant Flower

This card base is Whisper White, embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The ribbon is Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Stitched-Poly; the card stock layers are Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White. The flower was created by using Sponge Daubers to apply Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Pear Pizzazz ink over one of the Elegant Trio stencils. The center of the flower was highlighted by "painting" glue over the shape with a Two-Way Glue Pen, and then adding Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Elegant Lines

This elegant card was created by running a piece of Bashful Blue card stock through the Big Shot with the new Elegant Lines embossing folder, wrapping a piece of Very Vanilla 5/8" Satin Ribbon around it, and adhering it to the Very Vanilla card base. The Mini Vintage Tag was hung over the ribbon before the second part of the knot was tied, and then because the string on those tags is VERY LONG, it was pulled up, reknotted so it would hang close to the ribbon, and the excess snipped off. The tiny little greeting stamped on the tag is from the new Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set.

And cards aren't the only things you can use the embossing folders for . . . check out how elegant this thrift store napkin looks when you just run it through the Big Shot with that same embossing folder! Designer looks for a dime!!!

I hope you try some of these ideas yourself!

Lots 'O Bookmarks . . .

My Stampin' Up! 5th Anniversary celebration was a blast! Thanks to all of you who stopped by my open house to help me celebrate!!!

Also thanks to you, much of my retired stash is now depleted. I will be posting a list of remaining retired items within the next couple of weeks, along with prices. So you'll still be able to take advantage of those great prices if there was something you missed . . . or if you weren't able to make it to the party.

We made three bookmarks for make & takes -- TOTALLY easy and fun! Here are the photos, materials lists, and directions:

Magnetic Bookmark

Materials:
* Stamp Set: Favorite Thoughts@ (116968-w $15.95, 120048-c $11.95; set of 4)
* Paper: Garden Green card stock (8-1/2" x 1-1/2"; 2" x 4" for punch); Crumb Cake card stock (3-1/2" x 1-1/4"); Very Vanilla card stock (3-1/4" x 1"); Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper (DSP)
* Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic Stampin' Pad
* Accessories: Magnet Sheet; 3/4" Circle punch; 1-3/4" Circle punch; SNAIL Adhesive; Sticky Strip; Two-Way Glue Pen

@ - 2010 Summer Mini Catalog

Instructions:
1. Score 8-1/2" x 1-1/2" Garden Green cardstock at 4-1/4". Fold away from scoreline to create bookmark. Punch 2 1-3/4" circles from 2" x 4" Garden Green card stock.
2. Use SNAIL Adhesive to adhere Crumb Cake card stock to front of bookmark about 1/8" from fold. Stamp image on Very Vanilla card stock and adhere over Crumb Cake.
3. Cut flower from DSP and use SNAIL or Two-Way Glue Pen to adhere to one 1-3/4" circle. Use Sticky Strip to adhere circle to right edge of bookmark as shown; line up and adhere second circle to back of bookmark.
4. Punch 2 3/4" circles from Magnet Sheet. Remove backing and adhere to inside of bookmark near open ends. (TIP: Adhere one magnetic circle to inside of bookmark; place second magnet over first magnet with magnetic sides facing each other; remove backing from second magnet and close bookmark. This will insure that the two magnets line up perfectly.)
